Hello everyone!

I think that one of the ways to solve this problem of bad economy is for more Nigerians to be able to earn in hard currencies. What I recommend to help us start doing that immediately is that people should try to sell any service they can offer online in a global market.

I believe that if more of us do this, it is going to help strengthen the Naira and reduce the rate at which Nigerian youths do illegal things online to survive. It will even reduce insecurity levels in Nigeria because if more people are getting more money then, less people would be ready to do violent acts. So, it's going to be a win-win for all of us directly or indirectly.

So, please, let's share. How do you get paid when you work for overseas clients as a freelancer based in Nigeria in 2023 going to 2024?

You know, there was a time everyone seeking online earning opportunities in Nigeria was struggling to get a Paypal because without a PayPal you couldn't get paid in most online opportunities. Then, Payoneer came and many of us heaved a sigh of relief. I still use Payoneer.

But, I'm wondering is there anything better than Payoneer now? Please share the one you use. Thanks in advance.

Nlfpmod please, help to amplify this hopefully helpful thread.

Ok. Thanks for sharing. I know about Wise but I am yet to use it. How does it work for Nigerian residents? For instance, does it work seamlessly with Nigerian commercial banks? What are the difficulties? What are you enjoying the most about it? What are its advantages over Payoneer?

And Stripe too. Again, thanks in advance.

Wise is like a bank, a neobank that you can use to receive payment globally and tosend money globally. You can link it with Stripe and Paypal to receive payment

No stripe in Nigeria.
For wise you can only send fund, can't receive funds with it in Nigeria.

Stop writing what you don't know..!!

You can only use those account if someone help you register outside Nigeria and send you the details and to even use it here, you have to use VPN...!!!

I sincerely want to encourage all Nigerian Businesses to take this post seriously.
With the way our currency is constantly dancing everyday, the best you can do for yourself is to begin to earn in Hard Currency
If your business is too rigid to adopt to this reality, then you might as well just close shop
The Nigerian market is big but the economic reality is that the people are struggling for economic survival, the inflationary rates can wipe out any profit you make
At our company,we are seriously looking at this direction and hopefully we will be launching one of those products in the first quarter of next year
We are already working with two payments gateways to give us access,we believe that the Diaspora market can be a game changer for us
Like I said, all businesses must take a good look at their operations this year and factor in a way to start earning in foreign currency

Used to work before, blocked by CBN now, your solution for FX stability might not still work, it might only help you personally to be financially buoyant but not the economy.

The FX problem is not really in the amount of FX the country is making or the amount goods locally produced or exported....

The government is the major problem....

If we can export more products and services to the world market, we can earn more forex to shore up the local currency. Freelancing and working remotely equals labor export.

Is it the same Wise thousands of freelancers in Nigeria are using or another one? I don't know what you're talking about, but I use Wise and I have never used a VPN.

@op try Grey, Geegpay. Their verification is strict but they have good exchange rates. I get paid via Wise and send to Grey to exchange to naira. Grey also works with Payoneer, and you can use it directly (Just give the virtual USD account details from Grey to your employer.

Thanks thanks thanks a bunch. Your information makes a lot of sense. For being so magnanimous, may you become even more successful in 2024 and thereafter even as your moniker proclaims.

Please, kindly still share: What are the difficulties with Grey verification that you mentioned?

We shouldn't be waiting for the government that cares so little. For me, it's even irresponsible to do so.

You don't still get my message, not everyone might earn dollars from Nigeria but everyone might be affected by the government's mismanagement of dollars, your solution without government's effort to help might not work for the general population.

It might only work for only those who earn in dollars and how many are they in Nigeria?

You must have a valid identification, provide your freelancer profile link or LinkedIn and wait for few days for your USD account to be approved. Also, they're strict with the source of money you receive in the account. You shouldn't have any issues if you're just transferring funds from your Payoneer or using it on a freelancing platform. But if you're giving the USD account to clients directly, be prepared that they will put the money on hold at times to ask the sender to provide proof of the services you provided. This is to limit Yahoo guys from using their platform. Geegpay is also crazy like that. Even Wise too. Your source of funds will determine if you'll be having issues with your account.

Let's try to focus less on what will NOT work and explore more on the things that can WORK. My focus now is not on those who already earn $$$ but on having more people earn $$$. The less we depend on government, the happier we shall be😎

I'm not saying we should depend on government, but you can't be building and the government is destroying what you are building, all the companies that have shut down did they depend on government?

But the government caused them to shut down, that is what I am talking about, if we don't hold the government to do what they are supposed to do, then all your efforts might also be in vain, that is why even people who have hustled their way into wealth can still get affected by bad governance like kidnapping and banditry, it is not all about money...

if we don't need the government then why do we have a government, if you understand the major reason why the economy and the naira is in shambles, you will know why I am saying what I am saying....

Resently, Wise stopped assigning foreign bank accounts for Nigerian users, meaning users who create their Wise accounts in Nigeria cannot receive payment for their freelance services. This is the similar situation that occurred many years ago when PayPal restricted users in Nigeria from receiving payments due to fraud.
Be that as it may, freelancers in Nigeria can still receive payment using Payoneer, Grey, Geegpay, or trusted exchangers.
