How FG Can Stop Killings In Plateau, Others — Atiku by iwaeda: 6:38pm On Dec 31, 2023
The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar said attacks and loss of lives can be stemmed only when the Federal Government shows utmost determination to eliminate the threats by expanding the security architecture.

The PUNCH reports that the Chairman of Community Peace Observers in Plateau State, Kefas Mallai, disclosed that over 150 were killed by the gunmen in Barikin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas of the State.

President Bola Tinubu, in a statement in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, condemned the attacks and ordered a manhunt for the killers.

While condoling with the government and the people of Plateau State, Tinubu assured Nigerians that “these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice.”

Also, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu visited the scene and assured that President Tinubu’s administration would not rest on its oars until victims of the gruesome attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State get justice.

Reacting, the former Vice President in a statement by his media adviser, Paul Ibe on Sunday said random and incessant killings and maiming of scores of people across the country such that recently happened in Barikin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau State called for tougher action by the government in terms of prompt and proactive measures.

“Those attacks can be stemmed only when the government shows utmost determination to eliminate the threats by expanding the security architecture in the country and fast-tracking the arrest and prosecution of those involved in such dastardly acts to serve as a deterrent, Atiku stated.

He expressed concern about the frequency of these attacks on innocent people by outlaws, noting that under no circumstances should murderous criminal groups be allowed to take life without immediate consequences from the government.

According to Atiku, “the rate at which innocent people are being massacred in Plateau, Kaduna, Zamfara and other areas plagued by insecurity is embarrassing, adding that “only prompt and decisive action by the government can halt this madness.”

He observed that the calls for state police stem from the growing frustration with the government’s seeming helplessness to crush these outlaws.

The statement read in part “The spate of these attacks is also a sad testimonial to decadence in the judiciary because a situation where criminals are set free by the court without diligent trials is capable of dampening the morale of law enforcement officers and other security agencies.

“Atiku warned that abandoning the people to their own fate in the face of existential threats is not an option because protecting the lives and property of the citizens is a primary responsibility of governments anywhere in the world.

“But for his absence, the former Vice President would have visited Plateau to emphasise with the people of the affected communities. He, however, prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, stressing that no resource should be spared in taking care of the maimed and displaced.”

Reorganise the military like Obasanjo did, redeploy commanders planted by Buhari in certain areas to protect Fulani interests.

Engage foreign mercenaries like Wagner of Russia which doesn't know the difference between Hausas and Igbos or Berom and Fulani but can fish out criminal elements and dispatch them to the world beyond if necessary because of internal saboteurs and compromised officers recruited from the ranks of terrorists into the military as rehabilitation scheme for 'repentant' militants by the last administration.

Consult some retired officers like General Ihejirika on how they dealt with the bandits and Boko Haram that even shocked Buhari to a point he declared that attack on Boko Haram is attack on the North and Elrufai and northern elders threatened to take Ihejirika to ICC for committing 'genocide' (meaning excessive killing of Boko Haram)

Convert the likes of Amotekun to well equipped State Police to be controlled jointly by State and federal govt to reduce misuse by State governors at the onset.

They should create their own local police outfit like the Amotekun in the south west.
The Governor said those that are interested in landed properties in the plateau should approach the appropriate authority to purchase lands in the area. Unfortunately we all know that the Marauders and fulani herders that carry out this kind dastardly and nefarious acts do not buy lands. They prefer to attack their host communities and intimide them to succumb to release the lands for them free
The Governor sef is not serious to me. He's very insensitive to the plight of the people of the state. They massacre his people in the state in large numbers like Zartech chickens and the following day he was with other Governors for get together. Who does that..!!!!!!!??

Same way BULLHARI, kept condemning several and endless attacks, until he left the office, which he never deserved. Now, THIEFNIBU has continued from where he stopped. I no blame una, na because e never touch una, Mother, Father, Son, Daughter, Sister, Uncle or Wife. Wicked leaders, thirsty for power, but got nothing to offer.

Hmmm you did not give Obasanjo this same advise when he was busy declaring a state of emergency in Plateau during their tenure.

These killings are NEVER going to stop. In fact it's going to get worse. For perfectly understandable reasons anchored on political power and its distribution.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
