Sir the right to bear arms in self defense is a God given right of every human being not to be based on the white man's classification of development.

Let's be careful what we wish for o, Nigerians cannot be trusted with firearms o!

The license is not difficult to obtain. The only challenge is that it has to be a double barrel pump action gun.

And the bandits are running around with machine guns

Oga, the process ain't that easy. They will need to do background check, mental state report from government hospitals, etc
From my finding the commissioner of police must sign your application.

If you need it and you are financially ready, let me know. I will simply direct you to the Area Crime Officer in-charge of your area. I think this will be the best way to respond to you.

Again, please take note that the CP don't even see the applications. There are too many of similar applications that are within the purview of either the Divisional or Area command levels, on behalf of the CP.

You are absolutely right but the fact is that nigerians already have the right to bear arms but the arms must be registered. Unfortunately there are a lot of illegal and unlicensed firearm flying around in d hands of criminals. So your fears have already been realised. This discussion is coming because the govt has failed in their responsibility

You are right about the bandits, but they aren't possessing those military sophisticated weapons legally.

Having more ammunition in circulation is not the answer but to start holding our useless politicians accountable.

Nigerians have not developed to that level yet, or else they will turn the weapons on one another.
Even the supposed developed ones are stupid about it. USA

Civillians bearing arms is what Millitary dont want. Because they know that will balance the equation either with the millitary or bandits/terrorists. They still want the civillians to continue to die like chicken.

Making civilians bearing arms will do more bad than good, civilians will be dying like ants.
USA as it is, with education and effective police presence, the country is battling with guns violence.

As long as there are people who try to infringe on your right to life on a daily basis, then I agree with Falana, Nigerians should have the right to bear arms.

It will be the opposite because when everyone is armed it will make everyone behave themselves. I can't use my weapon against you since I know you will also be armed. It will also make the politicians to start behaving themselves because they know armed citizens will easily revolt against them. I will say the advantage of citizens bearing arms is more than the disadvantage.

The problem with Some Nigerians is that they know how to abuse anything that touch their hands, the other day it was fireworks some people were using as gun to catch fun. If the government should give such law that allows civilians to use gun, just have it in mind that such mass shootings that happens in USA will start happening here, honestly this issue requires lot of wisdoms.
What do you mean by mass shooting sir?

The US of A you are talking about tell me one instance where they murdered over a quarter million people in one day 🙄.

Yet we have that consistently happening and you are scared of mass shooting... something those useless bororo are killing people in mass already.

In my opinion everyone should have a right to defend themselves.

Senseless ignorant, extremely oblivious statement.

You want to give agberos & cultists the right to bare arms, the ones smoking Igbo under Ojuelegba bridge should have the right to carry arms?

Even bus conductor should carry his concealed weapon, in case you refused to pay for the bus fare, for over changing you, he can bring out his gun, & blast you to eternity?

May 18 2004 - 200 people killed in yelwa central plateau.
August 4 2004 - 83 people killed in Anambra
October 22 2001- 219 killed in Benue
February 28 2000 - 53 killed in Kaduna..... don't even get me started on the killings in Kaduna Google is your friend 🙄.
You don't have to take my word for it make your findings.

Every single one of those killings was perpetrated by Fulani bandits....you were probably still learning how to drink pap from your mother's feeding bottle then so I won't blame you for being unable to use your reasoning faculty.

Those who have been killing who gave them a right to carry firearms??
It didn't just start today it has been happening for decades why?....common sense should tell you it is because they know people are defenceless

You seem like someone born in southern Nigeria so I don't even expect you to know the reality about the killings of armed militias or why it has lasted so long.

Bolded...Keep off my mention if it's insults you want to haul@me.
If you have something useful to say quote me let's rumble.

Please, if someone goes outside and start shooting people on the street or students in school, what is it called? I know you want to show me that you are too good in English, that is why am asking you this question. Without being told, you should know that some people can abuse anything that touch their hands, is that the kind of people you want to have access to guns, imagine fireworks that was meant to be targeted upward is what some set of people where using as gun, now imagine when those set of people have access to gun, you should know how such story will end. I will rather support the creation of state police and vigilante, both should work together in conjunction with the federal police than allowing people to have access to gun, I think that will reduce insecurity.
