Nigerian Workers Expect New Minimum Wage Before March – NLC President by GuruboiNaija(op): 5:25pm On Jan 04, 2024
The National President of of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has expressed confidence that the negotiation of a new minimum wage between the Federal Government and the organized labour will be finalised before March this year.

Speaking in a telephone interview with newsmen on Thursday, Ajaero said, “The Federal Government had through a letter asked the organized labour to release our names to the new minimum wage committee to be constituted.

“Since last year, the list was submitted to the government and it is only when the committee is constituted that we now go into negotiation with the government as a union to agree on it.

“The existing minimum wage will be expiring by March this year, so it is hoped we may conclude the negotiation for a new minimum wage before March.”

Speaking on the wage award by the Federal Government to Nigerian workforce, he stated that only one month was paid, saying, “All should be released to the workers by the end of this year January.”

This guy no even know who Tinubu be.

The committee will be constituted in May and they'll come up with an amount in December this year. Implementation will be June 2025. And before then 1 Dollar will be exchanged for #2300 and 1 litre of petrol will be #1450.

It's long long long overdue. Earning has been standstill for workers, while the cost of living has been on the geometric rise. Really unfair.

Hmmm. There should be a data base of workers already. Why ask them to release names again to a committee yet to be constituted?

March? Isn't that too early?
I think someone need to give the imp a blow to the face to get him activated. I bet this guy doesn't live on salary, otherwise, he would have declared the type of strike declared when he got a face massage the other day. Maybe someone should remind him that subsidy was removed back in May last year for God's sake and consequently salary earners have got a new classification, albeit a sorrowful downgrading as thus:

Public Servants; Those earning above 200k
Civil Servants; Those earning 150k and Ordinary Servants; Those earning below 150k (Sheu Sanni, 2024)

Negotiations haven't even started and government have the antics of delaying matters until the last minute.

March is desirable but may not be feasible

Put your trust in politicians at your own peril.

Prices have doubled since the last minimum wage was introduced. By May, petrol will sell at around ₦1,000 per litre. The economy can not withstand further inflationary pressures due to low purchasing power of consumers/people. Any minimum wage less than ₦75,000 is not a living wage.

It will be the most painful thing to suffer in Nigeria and end up in hell. Put your trust in God. Surrender your life to Jesus and be saved.

Audio minimum wage. Laslas, una go go on one unorganized mumu strike and then resume back without any achievement. Our leaders are enjoying our money and telling us to endure while they keep on looting, yet una no see anything do.

Since they beat this man, he lost his vibrancy

FG has paid only September and October wage award and we're in January. And you still think they're committed to finishing minimum wage negotiations before April?
Re: Nigerian Workers Expect New Minimum Wage Before March – NLC President by Kingrshd3: 9:39pm On Jan 04, 2024
Is that why they paid the first 35k for September and didn't pay the next month that follows till date 🤔
