When men were "men" and had ideologies they leaved for and were prepared to even die for . Corruption has taken over the love for an ideology nowadays as money seem to be the final arbiter in defining the TRUTH . |

Honestly, the #1 think killing Nigeria is cowardice. All of the things we deal with today were happening then but men of that era were willing to fight for what they believed. Now Nigerian men proudly tell you how fearful and indulgent they are. |

These men were the last patriots. They believed in a Nigeria that could never be - a Nigeria where merit determines a mama fortunes. They didn't do it for gains or for tribe. These are the heroes past whose labours shouldn't be in vain but alas! they're labours are in vain! |

oneda:True. But see below why that coup failed and would never have succeeded. Why kill an innocent mother, a non-soldier, a mother of 3 young children??!!

Victor Banjo was an unlucky soldier no doubt. He wasn't as unlucky as the guy who heard about a coup plot, reported it in to his superior who he didn't realise was part of the plot and who promptly arrested him and had him detained for a while even after the coup had succeeded. Fast forward some years, he heard about another coup plot and sensibly kept his mouth shut even though he refused to take part. Coup plotters were rounded up and arrested and he was included, because a law had been made since the last time he reported a coup plot that if you heard about a coup plot and didn't report it, you will he treated as a participant. Poor man was condemned to death and I believe was executed by firing squad too. |

aswani:So much in life is dependent on luck. Just think if those guys had succeeded, more people would have faced firing squad. They would retire senior officers including Gowon and Ojukwu. Nigeria would have taken a completely different trajectory |

aswani:Babangida and Army needs to apologise for his death and the deaths of many others because Babangida self na coup plotter |
