There was a loud bang said to be as a result of an explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday evening.

A loud bang was heard around Agbowo, Sango, Orogun and Bodija areas of the city.

However, the cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

A resident of Orogun told SaharaReporters that she heard the deafening sound, saying, “It felt like a tremor that shook the house.”

Another source in the Agbowo area said he heard it was a gas explosion. However, this could not be independently confirmed by SaharaReporters.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, Adewale Osifeso and the state fire service to ascertain what happened failed.

I hope there is no life lost? This insecurity is getting too much

It has nothing to do with the cantonment, it happened around Ventura and gas land along sango . Casualties cannot be ascertain yet until tomorrow due to the heavy explosion and thickness of dust coming from the area.. alot of building far away are affected but casualties cannot yet be accounted for . God help us all

The most reliable info at the moment:

The explosion occurred between samonda and Sango

That it happened within Ventura or its axis (probably Gasland station)

That it's a gas explosion

The sound and the effect of the explosion was heard as far as Ojoo

We are still waiting for the official report....

We pray and hope there are no or very limited casualties
