Jigawa State High Court No. 6, sitting in Birnin-Kudu, has convicted and sentenced 25-year-old man Habibu Haruna to life imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl.

The convict was arraigned before the higher court for luring the girl to his wife’s room at Basirka in Gwaram Local Government Area, where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The presiding judge, Justice Musa Ubable, found the convict guilty and therefore sentenced him to life imprisonment.

In the hearing stage of the matter, the court heard five witnesses and three exhibits were tendered by the prosecution counsel to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court sentenced the convict to life imprisonment pursuant to Section 3 Sub-Section 2 and 4 of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, No. 2 Laws of Jigawa State, 2021.

This serves him right and calls for a celebration.

The surging cases of rape in recent times though. He should be castrated and that will serve as deterrence to others.

Life imprisonment is worse than death sentence. The prisoner will spend years suffering and begging for death before death will finally come.

He should be given life and dead sentence...

Yes good! Let him go and be raping the prison bars. By the time he spends half of his life there he will understand the importance of self control.

Some of you here who lack self control and are always planning the day you'll rape a girl just take a cue from your fellow rapist as that is how you all are going to end up; behind bars for the rest of your lives because you don't fit into the society with normal people.
