I am one of the engineers working
with BEAREN BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY ( as a structural engineer and a supervisor in the Civil Engineering Department, i am also part of the structural team for special projects ( STSP), most times we are assigned to sites with special needs like complex or complicated delicate designs, difficult construction projects that requires professionalism, competence and meticulous construction attention)

We are currently in Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu, where we are assigned to build a business complex, plaza, or mercantile.

Howbeit, the construction started on December 2023 but my shedule was too tight to open the trend early enough.

We have an old four flats of 3bedroom flat apartment situated in the designated site ( plots) where we supose to erect the plaza

Our Client’s construction file has the drawing/ design of the complex already. When i saw it, the design was for two storey building ( 3floors) while the existing building is one storey building ( 2floors)

Nevertheless, the architect designed it to be attached to the old building (superimposed design)

After some structural inspections and considerations, i suggested we collapse the old structure and erect the plaza as a new structure. The client bought the idea and gave his consent.

So we began....

The demolishing process 1

Sanitary and kitchen wares
Windows etc

Removal of rods from the rubbles

It took a while before excavation commenced

The demolition cost was approximately 400k and the rods from the building, window protectors and rails, doors both iron and wooden, roof sheets and its wood, toilet and bath wares etc


Demolition duration was 4 -5days interval

The entire rubbles from the demolished building was moved to the coner outside the build area for foundation backfilling.

The excavator for the excavation just arrived, Excavating with a different machine 320 Model for efficiency

Using excavation machine 320 precisely will get the job ready within 16 hours

My biggest challenge most times is time to update early enough due to workload ( lack of chance or in remote areas out of network signals)
