I can't remember the last time I subscribed. Streaming services have taken over. Nowadays, you can watch a movie soon after it is released on YouTube or any other platform. You don't have to wait two or three years to see a "new" movie. Another wahala is that most of their channels have very low quality, usually in SD (standard definition). You can't have a TV with a high screen capacity and settle for DStv. It's like drinking an expensive wine in a cheap plastic cup. It's time to sell that company. 1 Like |

SouthSouth1914: Exactly Streaming services are taking over the world I was talking with a Chinese partner who came on country visit two weeks ago He said in China there's nothing like DStv That what is used over there is more of streaming services because of very fast paced internet Once our internet speed rapidly improves in Nigeria Many will not need DStv again Streaming services will take over DStv better cash out now it's still early |

Thank God. They should keep their croissant and baguette fingers to themselves. Let them not spread their imperialism to the whole continent. |

HeatSeeker:by the time I finally install my Starlink, wetin go gum me with DStv again? na to pay far less for a quality live streaming service. after all the main purpose of the internet is not for streaming, I will only be killing another bird with just a single stone |

santaclaws:If DSTV partner streaming service Showmax can stream live premier league what makes you think that in future Netflix and co can't do that. The game is up for Multichoice. Premium sports monopoly has been the password they have been using to scam everyone but it is catching up with them 1 Like |

santaclaws: Wake up bro, larger percentage owners of DSTV has ditched to TV Streaming. Starlink has even made it possible and other Fiber Optics provider in Nigeria. DSTV is loosing the market and they are feeling it. Even MetroTV is showing all live premier matches for 5k a month. To make it worse, PHCN electricity supply has been very poor lately and it’s one of the major factors too. 1 Like |

Yampotatocarrot: Just go to their website MetroTV and check their agents closer to you. It’s 5k per month and shows all DSTV channels inclusive of live premier leagues Cons: their channels are not HD and has low resolution |

santaclaws: I agree the $1.6B isn't much compare to the reach of DSTV. But the French company even pay 40% more for what DSTV is currently worth. This is DSTV fault not the French company. DSTV may not even have a choice. this company already own a massive 35% of DSTV stocks. Who can challenge such a shareholder? 3 Likes |

The only reason why DSTV is still thriving here is because of slow and unstable internet, plus lack of unlimited subscription. santaclaws: 1 Like |

Given the current exchange rate, 227 Billion Naira is not as large as you think it is. In fact, if you break it down properly, the overhead costs of running Multichoice in Nigeria given all the environmental and infrastructural challenges would probably consume about half of that 227 Billion Naira.
