Xenophobia in South Africa is indeed of concern but in no way eliminates the country's historical and spiritual association with the Palestinian cause arising from its own apartheid struggle.

By the way, South African Xenophobia is more akin to the anti-immigration sentiments in many western countries on account of economic reasons ("they are stealing our jobs, polluting our environment, etc). Although one does not support such sentiments either, this is quite different from the apartheid practiced by Israel and which South Africa is naturally sensitive to.
