By the way, South African Xenophobia is more akin to the anti-immigration sentiments in many western countries on account of economic reasons ("they are stealing our jobs, polluting our environment, etc). Although one does not support such sentiments either, this is quite different from the apartheid practiced by Israel and which South Africa is naturally sensitive to.

And sure, Xenophobia in SA is a serious issue that must not be taken lightly.

However this does nothing to take away SA's historical empathy to the Palestinian cause.
If Nigeria had its head correct, we should be in the vanguard of support for Palestine as well - because as the largest congregation of black people in the world, we should be seen to be the most outspoken for oppressed and enslaved people everywhere - given what the black race has experienced in the last few centuries.
