I still don't believe this is a Worthy measure to some of the problems. Ok, when this is done, how would it make things change if the investors agreed to be paid with local currency, are they not going to be paid dollar equivalent amount of Naira? Would this solve the problem of inflation? |

JasonNOTStatham: Nigeria made the Mistake longtime ago ... if am a foreigner and I want to invest in your country, the first thing from me is to accept your local currency, by converting my foreign cash be it dollar or pounds to the local currency before paying for anything.... because you can't expect me to setup my business in your domain with dollar yard stick and now want me to be pricing in Naira ..... From paying for all legal document you will pay dollar because of greedyness of people at the helm of affair, earn in dollar as a county will only wicking the system especially if such foreign currency as been priorities over the local one ... |

Like why the fhuck are they paying in dollars in the first place? Cbn should be looking at the industries like local gas plant collecting dollar as payment for some they produced in Nigeria instead of going after diasporians first. Madness. |
Re: Electricity Supply: Nigeria To Propose Naira Payment For Local Gas. by NinjaMetahuman: 8:13am On Feb 11 |
tragergeorge:it's simple. It's their job to go and convert the naira they receive dollars if they need any equipment to service their business in Nigeria. Take telecoms for example, nobody is paying for their service in dollars, but 90% of their equipment are bought in dollars or serviced with dollars because they are mostly imported. What they do is reduce their foreign expatriate to barest minimum and they take out of the billions they make from Nigeria and convert it to dollars to buy more equipment or service their equipment. Why the fhuck is gas that is mined locally collecting dollars as payment when gas is not even an international commodity like crude oil? Absolutely insane stuff. |

Greenback: But you see this man called ogbonti who claimed to be a die hard Nigeria patriot will never agree with you. He doesn't seem to see all these terrible happenings in Nigeria. In the travel section, he always drag people that plan to travel out of the country and even those that are giving their various testimonies about how happy they are escaping this zoo. Check out his posts and watch how he is dragging people in the travel section. He is one of the APC touts in the country. |
Re: Electricity Supply: Nigeria To Propose Naira Payment For Local Gas. by Mcslize: 8:35am On Feb 11 |
Vischy: Here you have it. Here is one APC supporter. He is a die hard corrupt Nigerian who doesn't seem to see the plight and cry of the common man in Nigeria. He is no other person than A.K.A ogbonti; the self acclaimed tout that has claimed to have lived in the U.S for 30 years and understand what's obtainable in the western world. But he will still open his wide mouth and glorify Nigeria and dragging those who have escaped this zoo. How wicked can one be than that! |
Re: Electricity Supply: Nigeria To Propose Naira Payment For Local Gas. by Mcslize: 8:45am On Feb 11 |
ibawon: Don't let ogbonti see this bolded. That man has been a torn on the flesh of young Nigerians who have escaped this zoo and testifying good about their lives in diaspora. You see this man called ogbonti, he is one of the corrupt citizens that is supporting bad governance. If you mistakenly make this post in the travel section, just know ogbonti will never let you rest. He is a torn on the flesh of Nigerians in diaspora who are doing well for themselves. He doesn't like seeing people give testimonies about how their lives have changed since they left the zoo called Nigeria. It's really a big pity how a grown up man wil be supporting this bad government and fighting those that are giving testimonies about their lives abroad. |

naptu2:Nonsense!!! All these talks about the fact that a facility was built using money paid for in dollars then their products must be sold in dollars to Nigerian buyers is complete and utter bullsh!t!!! If they don’t say that one they will say that petroleum and its derivatives are international commodities sold in dollars so it must be sold to Nigerian buyers in dollars. The truth is everything we import into the country was paid for in dollars! The phones we are all viewing this topic on was paid for in dollars. All the imported food items in the country was paid for in dollars. Cars are paid for in dollars. Why are we then not buying these things in dollars? The truth is, apart from the obvious greedy politicians in this country, these business moguls are also just people greedy for the f!cking dollar. Every factory and plant in Nigeria was constructed using materials imported and paid for in dollars including the Dangote cement factory! Why then should we not be buying cement in dollars? These guys should just allow the gas to be bought in naira but should only increase or reduce prices accordingly as the value of the Naira against the dollar fluctuates. This is just pure wickedness and greed. |

Vischy: An Obi supporter is the REAL TRIBALIST. Obi is getting support ONLY BECAUSE he's Igbo. Before you open your empty brain archive to insult, go and compare Obi's achievement when he was Governor and Tinubu's achievement when he was Governor and tell me which of them truly deserves to be supported to become President. Do a proper FACT CHECK because I dont reply COCONUT BRAINS. |

harjay1986:Even the European union trade with their primary currency, those Arabic oil states do likewise, China also loves her yuan regardless of it value compare to USD. Nigeria is big enough to decide her trading currencies - not sure why they we can't use naira as our native trading currency. Nigeria is one of the big five in trading here in Africa. Holding and prioritizing dollar when it is not "usable" here, is something else. Cost of older phones, vehicles and equipment refuse to drop significantly why? The naira equivalent is not improving. It would cost a fortune for Nigeria students depending on their parents wanting to school abroad. |

Greenback: Well we have problems with our power supply because most of us , you included, beleive that government should set the price of power below what it costs to produce it. The sector as a result operates at a loss and has been operating at a loss, fuelling inefficency and corruption and poor service. You are behaving like the father that does not feed his child well only to express anger when he steals food. Your gsm companies work because they are allowed to make a profit 1 Like |

The problems of Nigeria are Nigerians and their leaders. Why is your Naira ( your local currency) then using Dollar for official local transactions which means we prioritise Dollar . Instead for us to use Naira as our currency. If good policies are in place Dollar will die a natural death in Nigeria. |
