Thanks for your honestly bro...please is it possible you help me find out from your family friend?

I got a contact there who wants to do everything for me for 32k...but I'm not convibced she would do the process rightly because she said I should snap and send her pictures of all our documents...and didn't say we should come with originals at all for sighting or verification

That's how they do it.. I used someone in Ikoyi registry and sent the details and documents she requested. I didn't go there until during the counselling session followed by the wedding day.... if you got the contact from a reliable source, don't be scared. That's just how they do it

Please must the husband be present during the oath taking?
I have a friend who wants to bring his partner abroad and he needs the court wedding certificate to process visa for his wife as they did only trad in Nigeria before he travelled out.
To the best of my knowledge, the wife and the husband must be present. Wedding will not be conducted in proxy

Marriage is a beautiful thing as instituted by God Almighty but the enemy is trying to soil it with misdemeanour of men and women alike.
Its not good that the man should be alone God said, forget the bad report yhear online.

My marriage has been sweet because we both keep adjusting to each other.

I received your message on my mail. I don't know if Nairaland policy allows sharing phone numbers here. If not, I will respond to you via email.
Her Name is Mrs Afolabi. I sent the requested documents and paid her, she did the registration, and I got a mail from the ministry of interior.

I went to Ikoyi for enquiry and after I was told all the requirements, I was also told that the fee is 55k.

Can someone please advice me on what to do, because I feel the fee is quite much with the trend I see here.

Thanks

Just apply online. I did mine last year and it was very smooth and easy

Someone read through my previous Nairaland post and called the number listed on it. That was a data recharge advertising I created on behalf of someone. The individual just relayed the chat with me; he had no idea I posted on Nairaland, so he informed the Nairalander that the registry issue is a fraud. I am responding to this post to emphasize that it is not. Furthermore, I am merely sharing my experience, rather than recommending anyone to anyone. The only thing I'm saying is "IF YOU get a reliable contact in Ikoyi registry that Said you don't need to come to complete your wedding application, it is true". This is because I was also referred to someone there last year and I paid without going to Ikoyi until during my oath taking and wedding day....
I paid I think 40k as at August 2023. And I had my wedding on 16th or something like that. But the mail I received from the ministry of interior shows the fee is 28,500 (which is difference of 11,500). But you won't do have to bother about going to Ikoyi to stamp or do anything until the day

Wow. Thanks for the information. I paid around 40k to someone last year. I know the difference between the self application and the agency route is like 10k

Bros thank you for the update, can oath and wedding be done on the same day cos I am coming from outside of Lagos.
Also after making the payment to the person, how soon did you get the email in your email box ?

No sir. Oath taking is at least a day or two before the main wedding. If you decide not to come for the oath taking, you may be delayed on the wedding day. You will get the mail as the person is working on it. The time you get the mail depends on when the person starts working on it. If he/she works on it on the day you pay, u will be notified via mail that same day(your email address as well as that of your spouse is part of what they will ask you to send).

So it means, oath and wedding can be done same day, just that we may be delayed on the wedding day right ?

No bro. It means you won't do the oath-taking at all but may be delayed for the wedding. During my time, those who refused to show up for the oath-taking were asked to stay back while those who did oath-taking were attended to, in the order of their attendance.

There have been a lot of debates on whether Federal Registry is more authentic than Local or State Government Registry?

Well I am not here for that though but Federal is still superior though you can use both certificates to travel abroad as it is acceptable in embassies all around the world.

Moving forward

I will do another thread on what to expect when going to Ikoyi Registry.
what std test do they require?
