Men suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission reportedly carried out a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.

Students’ lodges were allegedly invaded around 2 am.

Some students have taken to social media, sharing videos and alleging that the men broke into rooms and arrested several students.

Videos circulating on social media depict broken window frames, suggesting attempted forced entry.

One social media user named J Brandy wrote, “I thought they said EFCC should not raid at night again. This hostel (Celebrity Lodge, FUTA) is right behind mine. When will this endemic stop? EFCC officials moving like thieves at night!”

A man wearing an EFCC jacket was seen in one of the circulating videos online.

The Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, ordered in November that sting operations at night be stopped.

He issued this directive after the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by EFCC operatives, which sparked nationwide outrage.

When contacted on the matter on Wednesday, the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, requested the correspondent to call back in 20 minutes, as reported by Punch Newspaper.

As of the time of this publication, the Punch Newspaper states that he hasn’t returned the calls.

My question is, why must it always be at midnight?

Can they track someone and pick the up during the day time ? Must it always be at night ?

Although I learnt that most of their devices are always off during the day , but then it's scary

There's currently news on the Nairaland front page about the ban on EFCC night raids. I don't think Mynd44 has seen this thread yet. This occurred last night at FUTA.

Europe has same time zone as Africa..plus or minus 2hrs
So midnight in Nigeria is 1am in Germany or Austria,, maybe 2am in Baltic countries or so..
Mid day to our own midnight is Japan Australia, NZ etc
