I didn't say the ones you listed are not risky or less risky but I difer in your judgement that it is not a risky job.

For dangerous animals like big cats, they usually have different enclosures. It is in the holding section that food is usually tossed in, before the main den is opened up by a remote electric switch. Some zoos have even inner enclosures to double-up safety. I've been to zoo several times. Most times it is purely human error that causes the fatality.

I get ur point: once the encounter happens, its near-certain death. But the odds for that encounter to happen is extremely extremely low. I have not researched this particular oau story but I wouldnt be surprised the man made an error. Usually, there should be more than 1 person doing the feeding. Maybe he was a bit too forward or his other member lagged. I really feel sorry for him though but sh*t happens.

Lions that he has been feeding since they were born yet they couldn't recognize him.

Oga, something he has been doing for 9yrs....he's not a learner.

Situations must have changed for the lion...I can only blame hunger, the meal has been rationed.
It's most likely not carelessness on the part of the professional zoologist

Your minor brain should not be making quick generalizations knowing it's a fallacy. If animal lovers exist in u.k they exist in Nigeria. it's a universal meaning to love things or people. There nothing so difficult about Nigeria that people cannot love things. Its common everywhere..speak for yourself. You the one who made the assumption streaming from your small mind that he could have been paid less .which is a wild assumption for someone who has not done any investigation in that regards. I only countered it using terms like "could". But trust your small mind to think in absolute terms.

The lion's meat should have been given to the family. Nobody — no good citizen — deserves to die in such manner, that lion was a typical dullard. A man raised you for 9 years and got death in return.

Nothing hurts like finding out you might be a failed Daniel or Samson right before your death.

When I went to university of Ibadan on excursion we asked how the lions were fed. The man said they put the lions under anesthesia then the food is placed in their cage till they wake up 15 minutes later

I think this is a big lie.




Anesthesia before every meal can result in neurotoxicity over time. That is like an abuse of anesthesia.




What I know that every modern zoo does is to partition the lion's enclosure into different parts.





When the keepers want to clean the enclosure, they do it in parts. If they are cleaning PART A, the animals would be in PART B, unable to access PART A.





If they want to feed the animals, they lock the animals up in PART B, and put the food in a holding bay in PART A, and when the keepers are safely out of the enclosure, they trigger the opening of PART B cage so that the animals can access PART A.






Another thing they do is to have the animals in PART C which is usually the biggest part of the enclosure, and then throw food over the fence into the enclosure.





Whenever the vets want to perform checkups on the animals, that is when they fire those darts.






The problem with zookeeping in Nigeria is that zookeepers like to show off, especially when there are visitors to the zoo. You will find some of them stroking the lions or taunting them.






I am a zoology graduate. When I was a student, I did a lot of my schooling in the zoo, so I know what I am saying.

I never said I had a big brain I only said you have a small one. So if we are going to be talking in facts let talk in facts.

You made that presupposition in almost certain term that the man like any other Nigeria would have been paid less..the deduction from which was he probably had live also a miserable existence.
