Yeah.

Private individual. The project developer is Century Power Generation LTD, a subsidiary of Nestoil, owned by Obijackson.

The first phase is about 495MW, which is enough to power the whole Anambra, will be ready by 2026.

For context, the all-time peak power generation EVER attained in Nigeria was 5,801 MW, which averages 156.7 MW for each state.

So, 495 MW should fully power Anambra state.

Wow

Thats a good news and for the fact that its private sector driven, i'm rest assured that it will be delivered

Could you shed more light on the bolded?
Obijackson (Nestoil) through his Company, Century Power Generation LTD is building 1,500 MW power station.

It'll be in three phases.

The first phase will generate 495 MW, which will be enough to power the whole Anambra state.

Project should have been completed in 2021 but COVID and other things delayed it.

It'll be ready for commercial use by 2026.

When commissioned, Anambra should be the first state to attain 100% 24/7 power supply.

Besides this, there are several other power projects currently going on in Anambra which I believe is up to 4,500 MW.

And who will give you license?

Anyways, that was Geometric original business model but the FG stopped them.

Oga, Geometric Energy will source gas from Shell gas facility in Abia State for generating, transmitting and distributing power across Aba and its environs.

By the way, what stalled the power company wasn't the federal government. It was Emeka Offor's EEDC that refused to let them operate because they have the license to cover the whole of South East as their catchment area.

Lastly, power has been moved from the exclusive list to the concurrent list. In fact, the licenses of these Discos have already expired. Stop the blame game already. State governments can now issue serious energy companies licenses to generate, transmit and distribute power in their states. The only challenge is that such business is capital intensive.

License was never Geometric Power but guaranteeing steady power supply

Good luck to Aba.
Next, expect religious and tribal interference to kill the project through the back door with federal government policies. Yes, this is Nigeria where water flows against gravity.

Nnaji should be respected for his intellectual pursuit of energy since he was a Minister. It was unfortunate that he left based on conflict of interest.

Let us face it, profit is a viable encouragement for success. What should be discouraged is excessive greed like gambling to defraud others we saw in Boesky and Milken on Wall Street.

Nnaji is different. He had a Mission and I am glad he was supported by Nigeria Power Holding Co.

The irony here is that it was this same Tinubu that fought Obasanjo for Independent Power Partnership. The individual Gas powered and distribution worked well in Kwara then.

But Nnaji have to watch out. Those without contributions but privileged will force a stake in this project.

Ask Bronson about how he got fed up with Nigerian/Atlantic Airline.

Respect to Nnaji.

Uhm!
I repeat, why don't we wait till this 24hours supply is got.
Has there been a test run?
What are the modalities for changing from the present National grid to this Geometric and can the power be seaminlessly evacuated to Aba electric?
Finally, what is the pricing model like because I am pretty sure that to repay debts and run the station, the cost of power from Geometric would be higher.
So if this cost is say 2-3times the present cost of the Gencos,Aba electric may decide to stick to the present Gencos, what then happens to Geometric.
In summary, yes that a 495MW electric power plant is about to be commissioned, which should be celebrated, does not automatically translate to uninterrupted power supply in Aba.
There are still many hurdles to cross

It's guaranteed. The Plant generates 188 MW, which is enough to power Aba. The city currently gets a maximum of 50 MW from the national grid. So an additional 188 MW from Geometric and 9.5 MW embedded electricity from Ariaria Market Independent Power Plant will give the city steay supply.

seborrhic:

What are the modalities for changing from the present National grid to this Geometric and can the power be seaminlessly evacuated to Aba electric?
You're uniformed.

Aba has already transitioned from Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to Aba Power Limited Electric (APLE or just Aba Power). This is the same company that will handle the distribution of Geometric power. Aba Power is a subsidiary of Aba Geometric Power.

To ensure the city doesn't experience downtime when transitioning to Geometric Power, the planners gradually removed Aba from EEDC to Aba Power. For over a year now, Aba Power has been distributing power in Aba.

seborrhic:

Finally, what is the pricing model like because I am pretty sure that to repay debts and run the station, the cost of power from Geometric would be higher.
The cost of power from Geometric will be higher because they will be providing 24/7 electricity. But the cost will likely be cheaper per kwh.

seborrhic:

So if this cost is say 2-3times the present cost of the Gencos,Aba electric may decide to stick to the present Gencos, what then happens to Geometric.
Geometric owns Aba Power and that company now has license to distribute power in Aba. If you think your billing is getting too much, then get a prepaid meter and pay for only what you use.

seborrhic:

In summary, yes that a 495MW electric power plant is about to be commissioned, which should be celebrated, does not automatically translate to uninterrupted power supply in Aba.

There are no hurdles to cross. Yes, if Geometric Power runs at full capacity, which they will certainly do, Aba will experience near-uninterrupted power. Anyways, the plant capacity is 188MW.

Aba people should pay their power bills because electricity is not cheap. Most of us clamour for 24/7 power supply but we don't even know that we cannot afford it.

Geometric should supply its own meter and have a system for tracking power supply and bills because you cannot stop a Nigerian from bypassing their meter, especially when power supply is steady. If you refuse to pay your power bill, you will run Geometric out of business.

BTW, other states with gas should also emulate Geometric Energy. We should gradually end this national grid nonsense. Every state should start generating, transmitting and distributing power.

By the way, I can never supply power to residents if I own a power company. Instead, I will focus on companies and offices.

Na prepaid

Stop spilling nonsense; you must not dragged the FG into the mess of a greedy Igbo man. The next thing now na to start playing the annoying victim card.

FYI, Emeka Offor was fighting Geometric because he had the license to supply power to the SE region. This is a man whose EEDC cannot guarantee 10-hour power supply to the entire region.

Even after Fashola, as minister of power, came to broker peace between them, a greedy Emeka Offor wouldn't accept the peace pact. Thank God that the licenses of all the useless Discos have expired.
