Lagos, Ogun Police Begin Joint Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Patrol by lexylaw40kuti(op): 1:11pm On Feb 23, 2024
The Lagos and Ogun state police commands have begun a joint patrol on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to prevent crimes in the area.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on X via @BenHundeyin on Thursday.

In January, gunmen abducted the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Philip Aivoji, and some other party chieftains at the Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Although they later regained their freedom, some persons died during the incident.

Hundeyin said the joint patrols would cover Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

“As part of efforts to enhance security on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Police Command in Lagos State and its Ogun State counterpart have commenced joint patrols of Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

“The patrol teams from the Lagos command will comprise mainly the Rapid Response Squad.

“Motorists are, therefore, enjoined not to panic at the sight of increased police patrols, particularly the RRS. This is a proactive measure to prevent crime and criminality on this stretch of the road, ” he said.

Road blocks and stop and search, are the most effective way to curb kidnapping.

For it is far better to be delayed in road block and stop and search, than to be kidnapped.

Nigerians need to know how to choose the better discomfort.

The Police should, therefore, be serious with their job as this will consume some amount of logistics.

Tackling insecurity is major.

Hope Northern and other Southern Governors will do the same, as it's mostly needed in their areas, especially in the North!!

Re: Lagos, Ogun Police Begin Joint Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Patrol by DeLaRue:
This government is actually trying.

Almost for the first time since Nigeria 's independence, a Nigerian government is finally being forced to think and do things differently because no more excess money.

Since shortly after Nigeria discovered oil, too much money coming into government coffers has made successive governments too lazy to think.

Now that the country is facing extreme challenges and there's no excess money anymore, government officials are finally using their heads.

Though a majority of state governments still dont care to think of basic solutions that can help the people.

Some of these solutions and reforms being adopted now appear too simple, but if we maintain and improve them, things will slowly start getting better.

There is no single magic solution anywhere.

Try and pay the men good allowance and also take care of the vehicle and see the men do wonder. The police will work perfectly if the working condition is good and the pay what the risk.We need more police on the highway, but let them try and avoid extortion.

If government provide all the logistics and pay the men good allowance, extortion will be less.

Highly recommend!! Proactive approach.

Officers, pls don’t relent and keep it up!!!

Also, deploy aerial surveillances in forms of drones and helicopters if needed.

Only proactive policing can deter and prevent crimes.

Re: Lagos, Ogun Police Begin Joint Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Patrol by AKWATGOLD1(m): 3:04pm On Feb 23, 2024
I suggested that the patrol should be extended the Oyo state boundary along Ajebo road towards Foursquare camp and Oyo State take up their security patrol from their boundary.
Re: Lagos, Ogun Police Begin Joint Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Patrol by santaclaws:
I can attest to this. All the bushes beside the Lagos-IB express way have been partially burnt down and you can find police vehicles at intervals...

If they had employed this approach long ago, kidnapping and herdsmen attacks wouldn't have been so prevalent.
Re: Lagos, Ogun Police Begin Joint Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Patrol by MasterTeeUSA: 3:05pm On Feb 23, 2024
I don't know why it took them so long...in any sane country, police across states work in tandem because criminals can cross state lines.

That army job to patrol federal highway
Not police job..incase of nigeria
Lagos ibadan expressway is the army that should patrol it
Apapa oshodi highway is federal road. Army job to patrol it

Federal road is the army duty to patrol federal road.
