French authorities on Thursday deported a Tunisian imam accused of preaching hatred against women and Jews, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced.

Mahjoub Mahjoubi, an imam in the small southern French town of Bagnols-sur-Ceze, was sent back to Tunisia "less than 12 hours after his arrest", Darmanin said in a post on social media.

He added that it was evidence of how a recently voted immigration law "makes France stronger".

The law toughening migration conditions was seen as part of the government's response to the rise of the far-right. It has been strongly opposed by left wing parties.

"Firmness is the rule," said Darmanin, who slammed what he called a "radical imam who made unacceptable comments".

'Violent' image of Islam
The official order for Mahjoubi's expulsion, seen by AFP, said that in sermons in February he had given a[b] "retrograde, intolerant and violent" image of Islam that would encourage behaviour against French values, discrimination against women, "tensions with the Jewish community" and "Jihadist radicalisation".[/b]

The imam also referred to Jewish people as "the enemy", according to the order, which said Mahjoubi called for "the destruction of Western society".

The imam's lawyer, Samir Hamroun, said he would appeal the expulsion.

Last year, France expelled a Moroccan imam and an Algerian who had been an official at a mosque that was closed in 2018.

President Emmanuel Macron said in 2020 that he wanted to end the stay in France of about 300 imams sent by other countries. None have been accepted from abroad since January this year.

He’s going to run straight into Northern Nigeria. FG should also start catching the ones in Nigeria. Revoking their citizenship and deporting them to whatever middle eastern wretched, desert hell hole they come from.

Very good, all Western Countries should start clamping down and start Deporting, revoking the work permits, study visas and permanent residency of all terrorists and jihadists sympathizers.
Deport all jihadist terrorists and their sympathizers all over Europe, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, they should relocate to Russia, Iran, Yemen, Afghanistan and Somali to continue their jihadist and terrorists sympathizing

I thought in Europe and America anybody can say whatever he wants, hiding under freedom of speech. So why are they deporting him? They should free him and continue to pamper those guys until they fully take over France.

There si no peaceful Islam .... The only peaceful Islam is when they are in minute minorities ... even at that they will be causing upset upandan. But when they are more, they tend to cause uprising and terrorism activities. Its just in their blood and DNA.

Serves him right! No hate- filled religion should be spread.The thing I admire the most about Christianity is how the faith preaches LOVE. God is love hence, if you profess the Christian faith and still harbor hatred towards non- Christians, I doubt if you can be referred to asa Christian. Righteousnesses take note.
