While in 2022, there were 320,421 active duty U.S. Air Force members, a slight decrease in comparison to the previous years number. For the active personnel of the U.S. Navy, there were 340,065 members that year.

We need to recruit 5× of that number to sustain our population. That's why the Nigeria military as a whole is overstretched.

in my opinion that size is more than enough. If I was the president I was reduce budget for the military. Retrain a lot of them and moved them to the police. Upgrade the police to a 21st century police. The military are not trained to and cannot solve internal security issue. None of our neighbour have the capacity now and in the future to attack us militarily. Instead of wasting money on the military the money can be channelled to the police why the rest could be moved into education/health/public infrastructure to improve the economy.

The size is enough for air force, equipment and training is much needed than number
