Geometric power is yet to fire up even one of its three turbines as it negotiates with Shell for gas whose current prices have hit the roofs. To supply even one turbine with constant gas will cost Geometric so much money that it will need to secure loans from banks while hoping that Aba residents pay up the astronomical electricity bills required to offset the costs incurred. And that one turbine as expensive as it is to operate, would not satisfy Aba needs. Just like Dangote refinery, Geometric power will need a few years to come up swinging with complete vigour. Constant electricity is not cheap.

1. You are right that the power plant has not been connected to the customers.

2. The company never said Aba is enjoying 24/7 electricity. They released a statement that they will start connecting customers by weekend. So we have to wait till next week to see if they have fulfilled their objective.

3. The statement 'constant electricity is not cheap' is ridiculous. Is constant petrol cheap? Is constant diesel cheap? Is constant cooking gas cheap? But Nigerians are buying them. Is using private generator at home cheaper than public power supply?

It appears that the promised electricity will not be available for an additional three to four weeks. Disconnecting from the national grid was mentioned, whatever that means.
