At least three villages have been sacked by terrorists as banditry and kidnapping for ransom escalated in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

SaharaReporters learnt that three villages in the Kurfi Local Government Area of the state were sacked and a police station torched in a banditry raid that claimed five lives.

The affected villagers who are now taking refuge in other communities in the state, staged a peaceful protest on Friday, demanding the restoration of security.

Gunmen were reported to have stormed Wurma village and opened fire sporadically, forcing residents to scamper to safer areas.

"They (bandits) attacked at about 6:30pm and killed five heads of households. They also carted away valuables, that's why our people came out to protest," a surviving resident narrated.

"As we speak our village has been sacked, no single human being lives there again. We have abandoned everything to stay alive," another resident added.

Authorities have confirmed the incident, saying two other villages under Kurfi; Lambo and Guda have also been sacked by the terrorists.

The Commissioner for Homeland Security, Nasir Babangida Ma'azu said terrorists had intensified attacks in the area.

He said, "During the first raid the bandits went from house-to-house hunting for those to kidnap. On their second visit, they burnt down the police station, forcing the residents to run for their lives."

So what did Katsina people benefit from Buhari being President? That state is becoming deserted as bandits roam about unchecked, killing, pillaging and terrorising. If Buhari had not been President, they would have said that he would have solved the problem of banditry in the north the same way some deluded Obi supporters think he can solve any problem in Nigeria even after verified data showed that poverty in Anambra state doubled under his woeful rule.

Hun. Not again. How would they defend this one? In Nigeria today, we hardly hear news about new discoveries, inventions, scientific advancement, creation of enabling environment for businesses to thrive, etc.

Thank goodness, we heard of the power plant which came on stram last week, but was initiated and developed by the PDP. One exciting news in a very long time.

Now, if its not economic woes, its cry and protest over hunger nationwide, looting of trucks loaded with foodstuffs , looting of warehouses, killings upon killings,.kidnapping of a whole commercial bus...and nobody would come to their rescue as the kidnappers would have a field day. The news wouid make headlines for days, government would promise as usual after which the victims would be left to their fate.

How long shall we continue in these mess?

I said it on this forum before that the name "bandits " given to these terrorists is way way trying na make their criminality not too gravious . These terrorists are the same people the SECURITY agencies have been battling with in Borno. Yobe. Adamawa and the rest boko haram infested areas or states.
