That 2nd CM has to be a workhorse and very defensive because the front 4 don't do much of defending and control, they are not patient ball holders. So a lot of the games will be very chaotic back and forth with England hoping their attacking firepower overwhelm the opposition

Defense especially Central Defense is not so solid so hoping Stones and Maguire saves you without a proper concrete cover in Rice and CM will be a disaster

For Kanes sake I am a little sympathetic to England
Trent has started England's last 2 games in CM, including bring partnered with Rice and Foden at am.

Rice partner should be Ward-Prowse or Sean Longstaff with Bellingham ahead of them.

Foden or Gordon on the left and Saka on the right
I will favor Longstaff over Ward-Prowse

Ward-Prowse can hold ball, dictate and also do dead balls but I am not sure he has the type of lungs needed for the work in the middle. Longstaff on the other hand is not as good with the ball but has energy like a horse

Protecting Maguire Stones Chilwell and Pickford

All of this only for Gareth to partner him with Jordan Henderson

Exactly Stone can do the job for them if they have a proper cover for him in CB.
Yeah, Also Kalvin Philips would have brought that calming presence too but his move to Man city derailed him

The ideal Rice partner will be a workaholic CM someone like prime Kante or Wijnaldum someone in that mould to cover and mop up

Jude Foden Saka and Kane their best attributes are going forward
What about allowing Rice to be the CM and then playing a more defensive player. Since England no get players like Kante. A younger Henderson for help but he's washed now.

If Kalvin Philips was in good form, then perfect.

I'll say, Kalvin(DM), Rice (CM) Belingoal (Am) Foden (LW), Saka (RW) Kane CF).

Or bench one of Saka/Foden and play a runner on the left. But this won't happen. Southgate must play Saka, Foden, kane and Belingoal!

I totally forgot Stones can play midfield pretty well. England don set but Southsense will be their achilles grin grin grin

Kalvin is not in form and no one can justify his inclusion in starting 11. Making the 23 man squad sef at this point is doubtful

Everyone knew Haaland was the real deal from Salzburg unless you can show working of how you claimed him before his Salzburg days before your claim has any leg to stand on
So, when did I hype him and when did he start flopping according to you?

Funny thing is Saka has 16goals and 13assists to Foden 18goals and 10assists.

While Bellingham has 20goals and 8 assists. Then you add Kane, Watkins and the amount of firepower England are going with to the Euros is insane.
And they low-key have Palmer with 13 goals 12 assists

With all of that Germany will still go further than England.

Why not Make use of Rice—Stones especially since Stones sometimes play Midfield in Man city and he's a technically good player.

Personally I don't fancy Ward-Prowse as the only good thing he seems to have is set piece delivery
Yep Rice Stones can work but we never sure whether Stones fit do am outside Man City

Ward Prowse get hustle and set pieces. I'm thinking Trippier or Trent won't make first team so Ward Prowse will need to take over set pieces

This is why I don’t give Man U fans chance because both ex players and them reason alike. I mean what concerns Lampard and Foden? kDB is there you didn’t compare him to Lampard but Foden of yesterday. Does he know Lampard is better than him. Longevity is nothing when scholes can’t even win man u player of the season not to talk of epl player of the season in 19 seasons. Same Scholes Lampard chased from English national team. Lampard carried Chelsea in his prime, while scholes was carried, he only play long passes that goalkeepers do for fun and think he is all that. The other day was Neville talking about bottle job when your team is sh1t at playing. Chelsea played city man to man and drew both games while Man U played like coward and still collect yet scholes had to talk about his superior. I remember how Man U fan on here used to troll Terry for sleeping with his team mate gf, I had to come in and point out their hypocrisy of how Giggs slept with his brother’s wife for 8 years which is worse.

Under the new UCL format which starts next season, the finalists would have either played 15 or 17 (if one or both teams played in the playoff round) matches…

And we could see a Man City v Real Madrid game in the league phase

Yeah probably but then Southgate too no rate Prowse.

Plus Trent don dey play Midfield small small for England. I won't be surprised if he pairs Trent with Rice

There will be no groups at all. Teams would be divided into four pots containing 9 teams each.
Then each team will be drawn to face two teams from each pot. In the league phase, each team plays its 8 opponents just once - either at home or away.

Then, at the conclusion of the league phase, the top 8 teams advance to the round of 16, whilst the teams ranked 9th to 24th would engage in a single 2-legged playoff to determine the remaining places in the round of 16...

He's playing like Henderson, nothing special...I've watched a couple of their games but mostly first half.

He played last game full time as captain though.

I was wondering why Arsenal stopped scoring after 58 minutes then it hit me; they had removed their maestro Jorginho.

The guy is probably done at the top level. He likely has torn all the ligaments and cartilage in that knee plus, maybe a fracture.
So disheartening. His focus right now will be if he'll ever walk normally again, his footy days are over imo. The knee was bent outwards, and I read somewhere that they had to hold the knee in position while he was being stretchered away!
