Sure, second only to Enugu shocked

Onitsha is another well planned city. The city needs a focus govt that will bring out its beauty the more.
Especially Fegge Onitsha, the plan remain unbeatable with its 45 degrees inclined streets

Not exactly best planned but has a pleasant grid design. That was the pattern used in older cities not in recent times. Aba will become very beautiful and pleasant when the environment is cleaned up and made more green.

Tellmeastory:
Why did your “British planners” not build covered drains with sidewalks like they do in Britain with money from your looted resources?

Why did they leave you with stinking open gutters and muddy roadsides?

Was that how they built their own in UK?

Ewu.

Don’t go to Rwanda and see how poorer Africans are building clean roads with sidewalks and covered drainage.

Stay there talking rubbish about thieving “British planners” who built stinking rubbish for you.
1 bottle of Azul for you

In all honesty Aba is a better than Owerri. At least Aba doesn’t have okada while okada is one of main system of public transportation in Owerri. Look at the condition of Owerri in the pictures

Re: Is Aba The Best Planned City In Nigeria? (Photos) by InternalAuditor: 1:19pm On Mar 05, 2024
Imo state is yet to have a befitting state capital. Owerri is more or less a glorified village with almost nonexistent infrastructures. You can’t believe that this is the overhyped Owerri lol

Mumu, how is Aba “better planned” than Abuja?

Aba is not even better planned than Benin City, whose own AFRICAN planned design goes back a thousand years or more.

“Benin City’s planning and design was done according to careful rules of symmetry, proportionality and repetition now known as fractal design.

The mathematician Ron Eglash, author of African Fractals – which examines the patterns underpinning architecture, art and design in many parts of Africa – notes that the city and its surrounding villages were purposely laid out to form perfect fractals, with similar shapes repeated in the rooms of each house, and the house itself, and the clusters of houses in the village in mathematically predictable patterns.

As he puts it: “When Europeans first came to Africa, they considered the architecture very disorganised and thus primitive. It never occurred to them that the Africans might have been using a form of mathematics that they hadn’t even discovered yet.”

How is planning MEASURED by what metrics so that one can now say Aba Is better planned than Lagos Island or Port Harcourt
Are we talking about the WHOLE OF ABA or part of it?
There is no way anyone can say the whole of Aba Is planned
I lived in Aba decades ago before Ariaria moved to its current location
So I have some knowledge of Aba.
If ever Aba had a master plan it has been almost totally jettisoned
maybe you are blind, you no see the planning for the images posted!

So that picture is the whole of Aba?
On the basis of that picture you can say Aba Is better planned than everywhere?
Is sanitation and refuse collection part of planning ,water supply, healthcare?
So.on the basis of one stupid picture you conclude Aba Is heaven?

Before any other thing else, the very basic meritc of judging a good urban area is the design and master plan. That's the foundation.

I have shown you the scintillating Google Earth grid image of Aba showing that it's a brilliant and a well taughtout design by the planners.

And I have challenged you to show the grid design of the cities you are comparing with Aba. Yet you no gree show.

Also people are confirming the uniqueness of Aba design and the ease of city accessibility of Aba. Na hate go kpai you.

Yes. The core areas of Aba and Onitsha were perfectly planned before rapid expansion spilled to neighboring villages

"A cartesian grid as a street pattern provides interconnectedness. With its innate quality of being comprehensible, there is a possibility of availing multiple routes to any destination. Dispersion of movement (vehicular and pedestrian) is possible as almost all streets are the same, with no rigid hierarchical constructs. "
Port harcourt people say na closes dem want; so roads are not connected. They even go as far as putting gates in roads. Most Nigerians get mental problem
