Ministry of sports and Ministry of youths have a long Way to go in this country.

Aside football, they have not done anything special to attract investors into other sporting activities in Nigeria .

Most athletes train themselves without support.
And we also have many categories Nigeria don't participate in at all and we'll be expecting to top medal tables.

E.g swimming, when will Governors start charging their Commissioners of sports to scout for talents. I visited few riverine cities in South South years back and saw little children diving and swimming without life jackets.

We have talents but no leaders and guidance.

I am more concerned about where Nigeria is right now, Nigeria hosted this event in OBJ's time and since then we have not hosted it, aside from that ask yourself, can Nigeria host this event now with the way Nigeria is?

I still remember many participants from other countries who came and refused to go even after the event was over, they were saying they didn't know Nigeria was that good, look at where Nigeria is today

This is where we lack effective leadership and i stil remember Dr amos adamu when he was in charge of the games Abuja hosted and we won...
He added most of our local sports and even that traditional wrestling and Egypt and South Africa protested. Instead he went round west african countries to lobby them to accept those traditional sports since they are done in there respective countries and supreme council of sports in Africa had no choice but to approve them....
I dont know what happen since then but Nigeria has been playing alot in the international space and we need to sit up!

exactly but Egypt have other games like handball hockey etc being played wel at professional level... Nigeria needs to incorporate school sports situations into her curriculum at secondary and universities such that from a young age people begin to have sports career and also skool too... Kobe Bryant from 19 went to NBA from high school cos of high school basketball games

But Egypt had started making incursions into sports in which we used to dominate particularly Table tennis.

I remember Cairo 92, right in Egypts backyard, we swept all the gold medals in table tennis playing against the Egyptians now reverse is the case. They are sweeping all the gold medals.

I think snooker has taken away Nigeria's passion for Table tennis.
