I humbly greet you all.

Before now, getting a neighbour's gas cylinder to complete cooking when running out of yours was not a problem but the experience yesterday showed that every man on his own now in this country. I approached 5 neighbours and none was willing to help out, all due to hardship and high cost of cooking gas.

So as things are like this in the country today, everybody is looking for ways to survive. If it's hard on those who are working and earning handsomely, how much more of those earning pennies and those who are even job hunting like myself?

As a job seeker in this economy that is tearing body and soul apart, I decided to plan ahead of time by using my last money to cook beans that could take me for days

Wrong kind of beans.

The beans I bought turned out to be the type that doesn't get softened easily on cooking. After cooking it for about 45 mins, it was still very strong and here, my gas finished. Too bad. I thought i was still having plenty gas in the cylinder.

The beginning of more wahala for me.

As gas finished, who is going to bail me out? In this hard economy that is biting harder by the day? Where everybody holds their cylinder so precious due to N1400/kg.

As I wasn't with any money again to buy even half KG, I went round the compound asking for who can borrow me his/her cylinder to complete the cooking. At the end, nobody came to my rescue. Everybody was claiming gas is too expensive to be given out like that.

I looked up, it was far and down, it was close. What else should I do? Friends were also complaining of no money to borrow me.

What happened to my beans, my only hope for the week?

I had these two coconut in the house. I brought it out and looked for a buyer. Luckily I saw who was interested and bought the two for N700.

A sigh for relief
That was how I was able to go refill half KG of gas and that helped me finish cooking the stubborn beans. I pray I will never get to buy that kind of hard beans again. Gas is expensive and so beans should consider that and done very fast.

Something for pocket
How i wished i sold the coconut more than that amount for something to remain in my pocket, or possibly bought the gas for a lesser amount to remain small something for pocket.

To share with you to know what I'm passing through, same thing most Nigerians are going through too. Times are hard! Really hard for most Nigerians. The present hardship is nothing but killing. God help us.

Soak the beans for warm water for like 3hrs next time first before cooking it.

I can't remember wen last I cook beans with gas.

Omo, everywhere choke o. Even me sef no for free release my cylinder. E choke

beans no dey tay to done, na you want make e soft... i'm glad you found a way out.

Me I would say some beans are evil. E get some kind beans wey go wan take like like the whole day before e done

Beans are of 4 types.
1..Small beans ( stone beans very stubborn to cook. Sorry for your gas if you try to cook this one
2..big beans ( fair to cook)
3..big beans with very dark face ( called iron beans but na lie, e soft die and easy to cook
4..brown beans, ( my favorite, e be like indomie, now now e don done)

And for number one, my mum sent those stubborn beans to me in school, I socked them overnight and cooked for 3hrs, 13mins, (6:22 am - 9:35am. still, the beans no gree done, I ate it like that like canel, na so I wasted gas that time

So if you like beans like me, know the one to buy

Before you start convulsing FYI not everyone is capable of getting beans to cook self.. so dude sit your ass up and be grateful

My advise to you is to go and marry and marry right. I work and I earn money for my family.. I never taught life will be more easier for me in marriage.

My in-law loves me so much that they send alert randomly without me asking. Alert up to 500k. They are happy with the way I'm treating their daughter (this is not a new marriage). I make sure she doesn't lack anything.

Just few days ago as they always do and without me asking, they sent 20mudus of rice, oil, yam and all sorts of foodstuffs in large quantities.

I'm just blessed with good people around me. Marriage is a blessing for me.

You still dey fill gas, it's not no more economical. Instead of you to go and get a coal pot and be buying charcoal. A full bag of charcoal is #3,000 now. And it will last you for months, if you're using and managing it well.
