Why Is Our Minimum Wage Stagnant? by BeninRefugees(op): 7:52am On Mar 13, 2024
The price of everything has gone up

inflation is all time high

NASS BUDGET & NIGERIAN WORKERS' MONTHLY MINIMUM WAGE

NASS Budget || Minimum Wage
1999: ₦2.2bn || ₦3,000
2000: ₦29.5bn || ₦7,500
2011: ₦111bn || ₦18,000
2018: ₦139.5bn || ₦30,000
2019: ₦128bn || ₦30,000
2020: ₦128bn || ₦30,000
2021: ₦134bn || ₦30,000
2022: ₦139bn || ₦30,000
2023: ₦228.1bn || ₦30,000
2024: ₦344.9bn || ₦30,000

In the 2024 Budget, estimated monthly entitlement:
Senator: ₦37.57 million
HoRep Member: ₦18.20 million

Minimum Wage of Nigerian Worker: ₦30,000

our minimum wage is one of the lowest in the world at $21 per month yes you heard that ! $21!

but our national assembly budget moved from

moved from ₦228.1B to ₦344.9B from 2023-2024

That's a ₦116.8B difference

the highest ever in Nigerian history

but our minimum wage is still ₦30,000 some states are not even paying upto the amount

which way Nigeria

Re: Why Is Our Minimum Wage Stagnant? by MANNABBQGRILLS:
We have been saying this over the years.
We hope they borrow somethings from the below.
God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬....

How to move our Darling country forward, Minimum Wage-wise....

1. Abolish SECURITY VOTE in NIGERIA. Nigeria will pay N60,000 minimum wage comfortably.

2. a) Abolish CONSTITUENCY PROJECT FUNDS
b) Reduce number of ADVISERS to SENATE PRES(2), HOUSE SPEAKER(2), GOVs(4), PRESIDENT(5), VP(2)
c) Reduce current ALL Political Office Holders PAY CHEQUES by 51.5%, without exception
d) Do away with special remuneration to POLITICAL ADVISERS & PUBLIC SERVANTS e.g; Purchase of Private Vehicles, Houses, granting Govt paid Vacations, paying for 1st & Business Class Transportations, etc, etc...
e) Abolish payment of OVERSEAS MEDICAL BILLS for Political Office Holders.
f) Eliminate PRIVATE PRACTICE in public workforce
g) Eliminate participation of Public Workforce in Partisan Politics.
h) Institute EMPLOYMENT BY MERIT, and eliminate UNDEREMPLOYMENT.
i) Review and eliminate allocation of Govt paid POLITICAL AIDES & SUPPORT STAFF to Political Office Holders.

With (1) + (2) Nigeria would pay a minimum wageof N90,000 comfortably.......
(3, 4 and 5 To be completed on another thread)

God bless Nigeria
We will get there.......

Thescienceprof:
Much as I do not engage people on this forum,
I have always read your comments on political matters and have no doubt that you're an APC person, which is not an offence.
We all can not support the same parties or have the same ideologies.
However, this your comment is the most non-partisan and practicable panacea I have read from you.
Will they do anything close to these suggestions?
I doubt.
God bless Nigeria.
THANKS for your kind words.
But , FYI,
We are not a party people @MANNA.
We are not a member of APC, (we swear on God's name.)
We vote for good people, no matter the political party they are in.

And yes,
God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬 and God bless you too ❤️
A better Nigeria all around is all we want @MANNA.

We Rise ✔️

thecommunist:
God bless you and all true lovers of Nigeria!

God bless you too sir.
Nigeria will work for those of us that believe in her.
Stay blessed sire.
Patriottt:
This is the most reasonable comment I've seen you post so far
Clap for yourself now 👏

Umueme:
First time I read your comment, and agreed 101% with what you said.
BALLOSKI:
Brilliant point!
thecommunist:
God bless you and all true lovers of Nigeria!
AMEN 🙏

obembet:
This is why I support Omoyele sowore, anything outside what you listed above, no PDP APC or LP can make Nigeria Better.

Am yet to see LP senators condemn all this security vote for governors and senators a
