SITUATION REPORT ON THE ATTACK AND KILLING OF MILITARY PERSONNEL ON PEACE MISSION BY OKUAMA COMMUNITY

1. The troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State While on peace mission to OKUOMA community in BOMADI LGA of Delta State were surrounded by some community youths and killed on Thursday, 14 March, 2024. The unfortunate incident occurred when the troops responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities both in Delta State.

2. The reinforcement team led by the Commanding officer was also attacked, leading to the death of the Commanding officer, two Majors, one Captain and 12 Soldiers.

3. The Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa has directed the immediate investigation and arrest of those involved in the heinous crime. The occurrence has been reported to the Delta State Govt.

4. However, the military remains focused and committed to its mandate of maintaining peace and security in the country. So far, a few arrests have been made while steps in place to unravel the motive behind the attack. Additional details later.

Bullet cannot enter, if bomb start raining from the sky, Egbesu won't have anywhere to run to.

The worst part is, they did some ungodly things to the bodies... The only solution is for the community to catch the psycho that did it themselves.

I fear for that community, unfortunately they are not located in the North whete matters like this are swept under the carpet. Most of the youths would have fled by now, I hope they don't go and slaughter 80 years old women and come up another Press Release that 100 militants have been neutralised and their camps destroyed which equals to 100 innocent civilians killed and their houses destroyed

some people here in the comments are justifying the killers action saying bandits also kill soldiers

Nigerian army are killing bokoharam and bandits on daily basis,we all read news and know what's going on,those people brought wrath on their own people by killing those military men

You went with this kind of entourage and expect people you believe you went for peace? Let’s be reasonable here- Look at the weight the soldiers came with?

For me, I think the soldiers with their ogas went there to show who is boss and not on a peaceful meeting! Either way, killing them calls for government trouble all the the same. Security personnel everywhere are the ones always causing problems! They must be getting their palms greased one way or the other by their client who took them there!

Firstly, there was no circular by the DTGH regarding any conflict between any communities and never contacted any battalion whatsoever to go and engage in peaceful resolution. Those that went there, went on their own accord and on what they stand to get!
