Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has condemned the destruction of Okuama community in Delta State due to the killing of solders.

There are reports of the destruction of lives and properties in parts of Okuama in Ughelli Local Government Area and Okolaba in Bomadi Local Government of Delta State.

In a statement on Sunday, Falana called for an end to attacks on innocent citizens, saying collective punishment is a serious offence under domestic and international law.

He said, “Yesterday, I condemned the brutal killing of a group of military officers and soldiers in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State which occurred last week. I called for the immediate prosecution of the suspects who have been arrested for their involvement in the heinous crime. I also appealed to the military authorities to prevent soldiers from unleashing reprisal attacks on the communities in Bomadi Local Government Area.

"Unfortunately, some villages were attacked last night by angry soldiers. After the attack the villages were set on fire during the nocturnal military invasion. Having regard to the destruction of Odi and Zaki Biam over killing of soldiers the authorities ought to have taken adequate measures to prevent the attack and burning of the affected villages. It is unfortunate that the federal government has not issued any statement on the barbaric incident.

"In view of the tragic turn of events, I call on the military authorities to halt the destruction of the properties of innocent people in the warring communities. It ought to be pointed out that collective punishment is a serious offence under domestic and international law.

"Therefore, the Delta State Government should ensure that the murder suspects and arsonists among the civilians and soldiers are fished out and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements in the society.”

People should refrain from violent activities and senseless killing of others.

Meanwhile anybody supporting Israel to wipe out the entire people of Gaza doesn't have any right to criticize our military.

They should have quietly investigate and arrest those who did the killings instead of killing innocent people.

In a dismay how a camouflage have been turn to flag. Anyone can rubbish it on the floor with blood stains.
Let it sound as a warning that Soilders should focus on protecting the country and its citizen from foreign threats and it should be noted that where ever there is shooting Police and other sister agency should brave up and intervene.

Where there is bombardment is where a soilder should come in. Not whreer there is shooting you will call solders to come and have peace talk

This is a clear deal went wrong in the hands of the opposition. The fallen solders lost there life for not knowing what the top commanders have in stock.

Even as a sergent or lituentnant ask you commander questions and don't always obey the last order. Most are ploy to destroy your existence.

Soldiers attacking a community in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning is what I call terrorist attack...

A professional trained soldier does not attack in the night when women and children are sleeping. It's only Fulani herdsmen on reprisal attack does so...

If Nigeria soldiers will be attacking a whole community involving, elderly men, women and children then Nigeria soldiers are Fulani killer herdsmen in disguise wearing army uniforms.

And if this was an order from above then let it be known that every army man you see walking on SS and SE soil is a potential Fulani killer terrorist ready to attack you at night when you're sleeping in the name of retaliation.

The US and British army that instituted the presidential system of government we're running don't humiliate their citizens by burning down their houses in the dead of the night rather they plan all throughout the night how to fish out the criminals involved in the crime

Blacks are really monkeys that the white people called us. Just because a group of criminals killed some soldiers in a community and the next thing Nigerian army could do is destroy a whole community and burnt innocent people's homes. Nigeria is really animal kingdom.
