I learnt that 19 Police officers were killed in the same area two weeks ago. If that is true, it may be the reason why soldiers were sent to maintain peace between the warring tribes.

Bandits get killed all the time. An interview of a bandit by a foreign journalist, shows that they sometimes react by kidnapping people when soldiers kill them and their family members. Kidnapped victims are also used as human shields when they suspect that the military will attack their camps in the forests.
