I don't really know much about the finance sector or things like that so please explain in layman's terms.

My dad bought a 5000 first bank shares 20 years ago and forgot about it.
He suddenly remembered it last week and tried to claim the dividends.

After meeting with a broker and everything, he was paid the dividends of the past 12 years and not 20.

He said his unclaimed dividends was 300k+ but was only paid 40k+

The question is aren't they supposed to pay him full?

If not, why?

Please explain in layman's terms.

I called first Registrars too about old shares i found but thry are saying shares of more than 10 years ago are not applicable?

is that true?

The money is just gone?
