The ism (Intelligent Servo Module) used to shift gears in the W164, W212 S class etc are notorious for failing at any given time. Leaving the car with a no start scenario or gear is stuck in Park. The normal way of fixing this problem is to swap the module with another and have it programmed to the car but NOW THEY ARE REBUILDABLE,why send 350k to buy another when u can repair the damaged one with less than 35% of the cost, let's start saving the naira by repairing instead of buying another ,
Once you have this problem , scan the ism for the codes ,send the codes to us and we will tell you if it's repairable

It occurs quite often ,even a simple glitch in the software will render it unusable

ISM, DSM are rebuildable, they can be flashed to work for different cars like the 164/251 can be flashed to work for the 221 etc , the Info on them can be copied to other units on the table , the faults in the mechanism will be corrected ,also faults in the board and software repaired

Save your money , repair yours don't buy a new one

B4 calling pls make sure u have scanned the car and have the fault codes of the ism with u when calling, thanks

No 1 factor that damages ism is Jump starting!!!

The 3 common factors that destroy the ism/dsm
1. Bad auxiliary battery;if the auxiliary battery light is showing on the dashboard pls go to the nearest mechanic and have it changed .for each time u remove the main battery the ism draws its power from the auxiliary battery.once that is also bad .it stores a failure on the ism and it continues to count till it shuts down completely with no prior warning.
2. CAN failure ; if u want to work on your canbus pls disconnect the ism or u can easily damage it
3.Jump starting the car; the spark produced from the partial contact when trying to jump start the car easily destroys the ism .to avoid this .disconnect the weak battery and connect the other battery. Start the car and return the original battery.
Avoid the 3 things above and u would hardly need to change the module ever

Removing battery for hours gets registered as a failure on the ism once the auxiliary battery gets weak. Pls avoid removing battery overnight etc. If its for short time like 10 minutes etc its ok ,longer time will gradually kill your ism
