What the young Wole Soyinka and his friends founded back in the Uni was a well-known fraternity called Pirates that was legitimately known to the school authorities (NOT a campus gang) or what you unenlightened people WRONGLY call "campus cult." This is why till today, the legitimate Pirates have NEVER been banned.

In a bid to become respected, some of the emerging campus gangs in the 1980s began to copy the structure of the legitimate fraternities but these PSEUDO-FRATERNITIES or campus gangs were NEVER founded by the great 1986 Nobel laureate Professor Oluwole Soyinka and his friends at University College, Ibadan.

Fraternities are legitimate on most campuses in the advanced countries of the world and their activities are open. George W. Bush, a former President of the U.S. and many prominent folks worldwide were members of legitimate campus fraternities.
