I don't know if this is happening in my residential area only or........

I was so surprised when a response to my enquiry by IBEDC customer support revealed that my area of residence is placed in Band B which should enjoy above 16 hours of power supply daily.
It is more than five years I live in the area and this is an area that people don't want to move to because of the poor power supply. We can't boast of enjoying 10 hours of power in most weeks of the month.
For instance, we didn't get any power supply last Tuesday, the same thing on Wednesday, only 30 minutes yesterday, still waiting today for it and this is how we have been living for more than a year in the past.

And The NERC approved SRT Bands are as follows:

1. Lifeline
2. Band A – 20 Hours and above
3. Band B – 16 Hours and above (But less than 20 hours)
4. Band C – 12 Hours and above (But less than 16 hours)
5. Band D – 8 Hours and above (But less than 12 hours)
6. Band E – 4 Hours and above (But less than 8 hours)

According to the categories above and supply of power in my area - Felele/ Olohunsogo Ibadan should be in Band E or even in a band below.
But the area is unjustly placed in Band B that is not near at all

There's nothing much you can do about it, talk and Tinupoo's nairaland minions will call you "wailer" ... people are suffering in silence.

Nigerians are defeated people... tinupoo is really playing this tribalism card so perfectly well.

It’s good that people are calling them out now. Maybe it’s time to standardize the band and make it reflect real life situation.

But OP, no tariff increase for Band B. Only those in Band A are impacted by the change so your bill shouldn’t be different.

It’s just that I fear they might use another trick to push you to Band A all to extort people.

Adelabu should take charge and instill discipline in these guys before people start revolting in the street from this daylight robbery from them.

What exactly does band mean? Is the light on Bands different? Are they generated differently?? Since people are paying for wattage per hour of usage, why the issue over who is getting more light and who isn't? Shouldn't it be what the prepaid metre is for

This might help.

I think in their brain, they believe those in band A areas are rich people who can afford this. They are usually connected to feeder lines.

Only the SE played the tribalism card in the last election. Don't try to gaslight us.
