I can be in Adamawa typing but looking up my IP you'd only see Lagos, Abuja or Rivers

There are public IPs that are unique and there are private range of IP adresses that share few public ones within every ISP and internet linked network. There has to be a collabo between the ISP and Webhost to nail you. It is possible but not usually very easy. For Nairaland's case, it is much easier. We all know who calls the shot and where he probably frequents.

Nobody uses IP geolocation. It's never accurate. All law enforcements know how they get people's assigned certain IPs. They simply go to the ISP and request for the user that was assigned certain IP at certain time and that's all.

Nairaland uses a service that detects when you're using an IP. They can ban bad IPs if they want but nobody uses a static IP

I know for a fact that the DSS has access to all our WhatsApp messages if they make a request.

My problem with Nairaland is some mods. Some might pick and take offense while targeting you... They also sometimes get political and block some opinions.

As a web developer, you should know that there are few static IP addresses in Nigeria.
Most are are shared IPs.

The person saying he's 8 hours away from Nigeria can be easily tracked than someone from Nigeria.

If you're targeted and you are stupid enough to download attachments though, then you're a goner.
