LandMann:Thank you Sir. To be honest with you I didn't even read his post, neither did I read even the reply by the girl I referred to up there. I mark and take notice of people to avoid even their comments not to talk of posts here as I know their way of thinking and they're very predictable. I have mentioned Africa as a whole in the post even more than I did Nigeria particularly so this is not a post specific and localized to Nigeria alone. I still have Peter Obi's picture as my profile pic but I still disagree with him where I do not agree as I am my own person and not driven by personality worship or caveman tribal jingoist bigotry. I am not even from the South. May God help their types, they own and dominate Nairaland. |

ElSudani: If you are not blind, deaf, dumb and a complete illiterate then you don't need to be told that Nigeria is suffering from massive brain drain, massive inflation, high unemployment and underemployment, extremely low production capacity, massive corruption and highly underpaid workforce. Only a crass illiterate will believe that removing subsidy completely is the best way to fight corruption in a country where corrupt politicians and corrupt and rotten civil/public servants have devised means to always loot and steal public funds. Keep praying that someone like me doesn't get into power cos if I do, in my first 30 days in office, minimum of 200 politicians and political associates, public/civil servants from all the major tribes in Nigeria who have in one way or the other stolen public funds as low as 1 kobo will face the firing squad. In same period the useless present constitution of Nigeria will be abolished and a new one written that returns Nigeria to regional system of government and expressly prescribes death sentence for any elected or appointed public official who steals public resources and even accepts bribe. I'll certainly not forget to prioritize mental health treatment for online sycophants like you who support useless politicians for tribal and religious reasons 1 Like |

LandMann: You are a crass illiterate. What has the removal of fuel subsidy got to do with mass migration? Did people start migrating last year when subsidy was removed? Someone like you will never get any real power because the moment you open your mouth people will realize how shallow you are. Your "superior argument" was ranting about Elon Musk, how do you provide the type of quality Education Elon Musk had by spending all your money subsidizing consumption of fuel? Then in another totally incongruous argument he pivoted to China. China! I bet folks like you are ignorant of the fact that majority of the Chinese people rode bicycle even when their economy was already in full swing. Then some ignorant Nigerians will come here to lecture us on why the government should subsidize the cost of running their not one but two or more SUVs. How dare you come to me with crass ignorance. You think Nigerians are not discerning enough to spot fake people like you with nothing upstairs? Power? Keep dreaming, you don't even appear smart enough to carry out a successful coup not to mention winning an election. |

Tell some Nigerians to do this because that is what the Chinese did and they will threaten to kill some phantom politicians who stole the money their papa saved somewhere.

drlateef: You're right. Thats why the global south has consistently championed fair trade deals, even bussiness playing grounds, and so on. But as long as the west continues to subsidize essential sectors for its citizens, it will be very difficult for negotiations to favour or even be fair to us. Thats why i am against wholesale subsidy removal and advocate for protectionism. |

Svoboda: Sir, I support subsidy on two conditions: 1. There are no rent seekers among the operators like in the oil subsidy of Nigeria. Most of the benefits of such subsidy goes to the rich, not the poor it is meant for. 2. The items are not taken to those who should not benefit from it. Like smuggling the oil to foreign countries where they are sold cheaply because it has been subsidised by our tax payers money. If these two conditions are met, then subsidy is good. |

drlateef: Very correct, sir. Govt has to tackle the corruption in the whole subsidy structure. It ought to create a whole lot of transparency in the program. Now, with subsidy removal, the fg seems to be subsidizing the oppulent lifestyle of the govs. They collect almost double allocation of what was obtainable during subsidy, and some still owe salary arreas. |
