Insults aside, Nigerians need to be educated on the Priority of this hugely expensive Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, when we already have a poorly maintained/uncompleted road network linking Lagos-Benin-PortHarcourt-Calabar

Whose job is it to maintain this road? Isn't it the same FG?

Billions of dollars are being wasted on this useless project and you lots are hailing them.
That money would've been put to better use if they used it to improve power generation and transmission in this country.
Some universities abroad generate up to 1000MW for use in their campuses but a country of 200M+ people generating less than 3000MW of electricity.
This is the worst case of misplaced priority I've seen

The Road might be needed in the Lagos Areas, but not as from Delta-to-Cross River as we have an existing road called the East-West Road that will be not more than 10 nautical miles parallel to this so-called coastal road if completed. why waste resources?,
Tell me the big cities that this road will connect aside from Lagos?.
Why do you need to connect port-2-port using the railway, instead of separately connecting ports to the hinterlands with the railway?.
Is this part of the plan to make Lekki Port the transhipment port for all other ports in Nigeria?

As a regular traveler of the East-West road handled by the Setraco contractors, I frown at this elephant project. That road connects all the South South states spanning through about 7 states to neighboring country, yet, the road isn't accessible. What's the difference between the East-West road and this Calabar-Lagos, except for the introduction of rail lines?

The explanation is very hollow we know what an EPC project is and in project management especially construction project management there is nothing like EPC+F. As in ehhhhh these guys think Nigerians are illiterates, the crux of the matter is this you said the contractor will provide funding while the FG will provide the remaining counterpart funding. First of all why is the amount of funding from both parties being shielded in secrecy? the second part is why can't the ministry of works tell us in full the real amount of this project.
The whole project is just filled with a lot of hidden facts and unclear details, even the aim of the project makes no sense. why will you build a 700km road to link two port cities? is it that a certain commodity can be handed in port so it needs to be transported to each of them? Also note that along the route of the so-called road, there are ports littered all over the south, why is it hard for the government to expand those ports to the capacity of Tincan and Apapa and dredge the river channels to accommodate the kind of ships that enter Lagos Harbor?
We really have visionless leaders. Nigeria is strategically positioned between the West and Central Africa. If we expand and fix all the posts along the coast from Lagos to Calabar, we will be handling shipping from PH and Calabar to Chad and Central Africa republic, which will make us a maritime hub in the region. Lagos and Warri will handle shipping to Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali. But we don't have thinking leaders all they are after is projects where they would loot using the usual trick which is SPV. This is how the coastal road project would be.

Fayose(PDP) awarded and constructed a flyover in Ado Ekiti worth billons of naira. When there are no interlink good road network in Ado-Ekiti. Only the few are motorable in Ado-Ekiti.. that funds should have been put too good use by improving the road network linking all Ado-Ekiti with good road, which will therefore enhance growth and development in Ado-Ekiti.

Likewise Oyebanji(APC), the present governor has also started constructing flyover just 300meters after the one Fayose constructed, yet all the road are still on shambles.. infact the road that lead too the site of Ado-Ekiti LGA has never been tiled before, its still mud and in very bad shape...

So weather PDP, APC, or LP, I see no different with their characteristics, I belive personalities are different amd party they belong shouldn't be the basis to judge someone... because it seems all present and past leaders of Nigeria are taking advice from mad men.

It is all about priority.

It is laudable for Nigeria to send men to the moon. But should it be their primary concern at this time? The same goes for the highway irrespective of the funding mechanism. Fix the internal federal highways first. The minister already calculated the sum of his loot and that's his main focus.

The best approach to Nigerian issues is indifference. Everything is a joke or comedy to the impoverished masses. So it is always best to let them be.

It's unfortunate that this grand idea of connecting the nation together through super highway and modern rail system is subjected to unimaginable political critism and struggles especially considering the vast economic benefits. May God forgive us all.

But whatever critique that trails the, project, I pray such good work does not stop or loiter so that the nation can reap the attractive benefits it represents when it finally comes on stream.

May God bless Nigeria and her patriotic citizens.

It's unfortunate that most Nigerian didn't know what they actually wanted or it's just to complain we like. 2nd niger bridge was the issue and in budget since the time of military to Obasanjo till Jonathan but was not done. It was a campaign slogan for decades till Buhari did it. I remembered some said that's not our real problem but it was completed. Now costal super highway was promised during campaign and it's being done but we don't know d value, ok let's check Nigerian map and see something. After all the money will not be paid now, it's when in use and connected 7 states. Fantastic.

A project to repair 1000 roads offers more opportunity to embezzle money than a project aimed at constructing one single 1000 mile long road. Besides, a legacy project such as the Lagos Calabar road has social values in addition to the economic one.

1) it creates a discussion point

2) it will provide years of content for those that have created work or extra revenue streams for themselves by vloging on social media. Some of these Vlogers are also indirectly going to advertise Nigeria to international investors.

3) it can provide society a sense of progress and optimism. Note how the Lagos Rail project, energised many sections of Nigeria. It excited Nigerians, largely, regardless of tribe or social status. The Lagos transport revolution also empowered the citizens of other states, providing them with direction to channel thire frustrations, which was at thire own state governments.

4) it can, if handled well, provide a sense of inclusivity for all sorts of neglected groups.

The 2nd Niger Bridge was born out of necessity. Prior to this, you could sometimes spend hours crossing the 1st bridge.
Now, what is the necessity of this Coastal Road? Especially since we already have a similar poorly maintained/uncompleted road.

There are over 30bridges along the Warri-PH road, so imagine the no of bridges +cost of the new Coastal Road.

Sir exactly, necessity but that is to those that uses it and not all Nigerian will use the 2nd Nigeria bridge or the coastal super highway. Costal highway links states with rivers only ( about 7 states) and close to the sea. It has higher level of economic value, it's only a visionary government that can embark on such huge projects. Just imagine bringing the sea to the floor or road side by side. It will help the ports in Nigeria.
If am not exaggerating, I can say only Jagaban can do this successfully have successfully initiated and commissioned similar heavy related projects like free trade zone, eko Atlantic, brought dangote refinery to ibeju lekki, it was on record he was super insulted by Lagosian that time, that he was selling inheritance to outsiders for his selfishness, but being a stubborn and focus person he facilitated d development of the corridor but today Lagosians how market?.
