"The offense of using faded plate numbers on your car is called number plate violation( NPV), and the fine is 3,000 naira. However, if you alter the number plate by repainting it or taking it to a painter, it becomes a forged document(OFD), which carries a much higher fine of 20,000 naira.

When your plate number is faded, simply visit the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and request a reprint or you seek for help from someone who know much more about it.

If your plate is from Lagos State, note that Lagos State has its own printing facility and no longer relies on the federal government for printing. In other words, Lagos State prints its own plates. Only Lagos state out of the 36 states."
