Ex-Deputy Governor, Ajayi Agboola Wins Ondo PDP Primary by Dapromzy333(op): 6:32pm On Apr 25, 2024

A former deputy governor in Ondo state, Hon Ajayi Agboola has won the ongoing People’s Democratic Party governorship primary election in the state.

He polled 264 votes of the 621 votes cast during the contest.

The former Scretary General of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni may come second in the contest.

Agboola was the former deputy governor to the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu before they parted ways following irreconcilable differences.

Attempt to impeach Ajayi during the crisis between him and the late Akeredolu failed

The next governor of Ondo state is one of APC or PDP candidate. The biggest loser here is Betty Akeredolu because both APC & PDP candidates had issues with Akeredolu's family while serving under him as deputies.

When they say today no be tomorrow, this is a good example.

I doubt it.
The fact that the incumbent will not go for another term if he wins this will play a very crucial role in him retaining the seat.
There is a high tendency that the Southern and Northern political elites of the opposition party will either secretly mobilize for the incumbent or just do a "siting on the fence'.
I see a landslide victory for the incumbent.

Hmm.

I think a large chunk in the state's APC do not want Aiyedatiwa.

Again, one wonders how come Agboola won the PDP ticket when other big names have kept the party until now.
