Which is where holding leaders to account comes in

The pilgrimage one, in particular, is wrong. But most NIgerians want it, and even christians agitated for their own and got it. Here we are.

Also, disagreeing with you does not mean I support the corruption of this government. As I have said here times without number, we have to hold our government responsible.

And corruptiuon is a bad thing, and the reason why it flourshes is because we are a resource dependent nation. Removing subsides and allowing the power sector work with profits , meaning we become more indiustrial and attract investment is a way of stopping corruption or reducing it...because if our economy is investment and industrial based, corruption threatens its survival....and thus it can't be tolerated

(That's how the chinese do it).
meaning leaders should stop corruption and not lament about it or make the masses pay harshly for what orchestrated.

And the scary thing is, even if they stop corruption, the money is not enough.

Nigeria must heed the advice of a certain Zambian before we treach where we can be subsidising. Doing it on one source of income is just chasing a mirage. We will keep chasing it.

Good night.

Pay for petrol at the market price, and you won't see scarcity.

Pay for it at tinubu price, and you will see more scarcity.

Oga, I'm not having any more discussion with you.

You have won for today. As for me, things cost money. If we want good power supply, we have to charge cost reflective tarrifs

We can agree to disagree here.

Good evening. If you like, keep on being abusive. That is why I don't like discussing with you.

Modified

One more thing....it does not matter at the end what happens in other countries....NIgerian power sector needs to be run profitably to supply us with power 24/7. If it means high tarrif, so be it. You can yell at me and call me liar, but this one is true.

The experts even say it

Toodles.
Abusive? Can you point out the abuse?
It seems hiding under the excuse of being insulted is the latest modus operandi of the children of the corn these days.

And as the experts say, cost reflective tarrifs or no power.

Then we will still have bad light.

Nigeria can't fund a good enough subsidy for power, and no I am not excusing corruptuion...the corruption is even making matters worse, and we got to fight it, but sadly our poltiicans and most people aren't interested , and it angers me. We are not earning enough, and our debt is eating most of our earnings.

But the main thing is we rely on one source of income...oil. For a nation our size we should have a diverse income portfolio, with manufacturing forming a great part of it, before we can earn money to supply power perfectly and subsidise it.

Vietnam is struggling to maintain subsides...see the power shortages coming.

Yeah. We’re an Oil dependent nation, and the heist going on in central government, ministries agencies and departments is not helping matters still.

Another mystery is that the Ministry of Solid Minerals have not publicized how they’re contributing towards the country’s purse. There are too many things shrouded in secrecy.

Even if the heist is controlled, you still need a free market for profitability.

That's how you get light, allow the sector make a profit.

stop telling demonic lies. Subsidy hasn't crippled china or USA.

Most of 'those' people either lack objectivity or are promoted to spread deceitful narratives. A few just have this ego complex & feel majority should suffer while a privileged few should oppress because of thier access to financial power.

I don't understand how someone would support imposition of hardship on the masses without first holding the government to account.

Till today, the following questions surrounding pms subsidy are unanswered under this administration.

1. Where & who exactly are we buying pms from?

2. Are Nigerians getting value for money from those who sell pms to Nigeria?

3. Pms is just one out if about 7-8 derivatives of crude oil, what happens to the other products when we swap or refine? Can't they cover the cost?

4. How many litres of pms do we actually consume in nigeria? The 64m litres per day has been shown to be lies even by those in the same government.

5. What has government done to reduce associated costs such as landing costs, demurrage charges, transaction fees, bridging charges and other numerous taxes dealers have to pay that add to the final costs.

6. What has government done about the cesspool of corruption at the depots where pms trucks pay exorbitant fees just to gain entry to load and which they add to the final costs.

7. How has government addressed the numerous security agencies along the road that extort fuel trucks , an act which adds to retail costs.

8. What has government done about ensuring good roads and alternate transport systems to reduce the wear and tear on fuel transporters. Expenses which add to retail costs.

9. What security measures were put in place to tackle smuggling of fuel across borders?

10. How has the government supported local refineries?

11. What is the government doing to ensure stable FX supply since it impacts on fuel prices. Because marketers would keep increasing prices as long as fx fluctuates. So are masses going to continually pay higher prices indefinitely?

12. What has government done to ensure transparency in the fx allocation to fuel importers and what has been done to tackle corruption and ineptitude in the system. Just about 2 years ago, bad fuel was imported and till today, no one has been called to account for such major mess up that costs some persons thier livelihoods.

13. Why can't the government go after the economic saboteurs that have made subsidy unsustainable?

So, when people like that chap just keep parroting, 'remove subsidy, remove subsidy', just know they are actually just parroting a line that they have been told to toe.

It is OK for subsidy to go, but the system needs to first be sanitised so we can truly have value for what we pay for.

About the scarcity of fuel, you're right and we receive the news from our station manager in our retail outlets.

As I'm typong this, we are on 24hrs operations to enable trucks load so that thwir would be petrol in tow.

This is an articficial scarcity organise by the greedy fools.

120 a litre was around $0.67 and N1000 a litre of today about $0.76 so let's learn to be fair when making comparison.

The govt of 2012 did not bring dollars from their villages, it is still same crude they sold to provide forex and thus keep the naira where it was then. Lets learn to critique with fairness.

Who took dollar to 1000+ with stupid policies? You think propaganda is enough to run government? Continue

What's ur obsession with Pāndora Obi? That's exactly how Northerners were wailing and became dissatisfied with every government because they believed that only Buhari can solve our problems. Now we have all seen the next level Buhari promised us.
Time to play politics don pass. It will be better if u move on by supporting the current government instead of always wailing and wishing that the Tinubu government fails for u to be able to say, "I said it". U have the right to wail and express ur dissatisfaction if Tinubu failed to fulfil his campaign promises. Life is too short for one to use 8 years of his life wailing up and down.

its a simple question...is this fuel scarcity worsening because peter obi did not build any refinery while he was governor? yes or no.

except the meaning of the word "obsessed" has changed in the dictionary, maybe you can explain how Obi's name appears in almost all your comments on nairaland.

is life not too short for you to be chasing after peter obi who is not a public official and who is not holding any political position?

how were northerners "wailing and became dissatisfied with every government because they believed that only Buhari can solve our problems. Now we have all seen the next level Buhari promised us?' find below a screenshot with tinubu telling Nigerians that buhari was Nigeria's only solution. was tinubu not one of those at the fore front of promoting buharis next level and said he will continue from were buhari stopped?

so far, how has tinubu done better than buhari?

how do you go about "supporting the current government"? what support does the current government need? is it my support that will make the government carry out its constitutional responsibilities? how has the support you have been giving the current government resulted in better governance and improved standard of living for nigerians?
