BREAKING: Police Officers Storm Home Of Ex-MFM Church Member Remanded In Prison, To Arrest His Wife; Ask Her To Report To Abuja Office After Seeing Her Little Children
May 1, 2024
NEWS

Sholabomi, the wife of Ayotunde Richards, a gospel singer and former member of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) remanded in Ikoyi Prison, has been asked by a police team from Abuja to report to their office.

Meanwhile, her husband is still in prison after he was remanded over alleged cyberbullying and libel against the MFM General Overseer, Daniel Olukoya.

A Federal High Court in Lagos granted Ayotunde Richards bail last Wednesday but he had yet to fulfil the bail conditions.

SaharaReporters gathered that at least eight police officers from the Federal Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja stormed her house in the Magboro area of Ogun on Wednesday evening to arrest her.

The police claimed that there was a petition against her but failed to show her the petition.

This was confirmed by the family’s lawyer, Mr Adesina Ogunlana in a video he posted on Facebook on Wednesday titled, 'Latest On The Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministry (MFM) Vs The Ayotunde Richards Family.'

He explained that the police obtained her statement without showing her the petition written against her by MFM.

According to the lawyer, the police personnel later decided not to arrest her because doing so would leave her three young children without any adult to care for them.

Ogunlana said, "Armed police numbering 8 from Abuja invade Mrs Solabomi Richards in her matrimonial home this evening 1st May 2024; husband still in prison custody.

"Police obtained her statement without showing her the petition they claimed is written against her by MFM, changed their mind to take her away to Abuja because of her three underaged children alone with her, ordered her to appear in their office Wednesday 8th May 2024."

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Ayotunde Richards and a 23-year-old blogger Adewale Ajimosogbe remanded over alleged cyberbullying and libel were still in prison seven days after they were granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The duo were accused of libelling the MFM General Overseer, Olukoya.

SaharaReporters learnt on Wednesday that the duo had yet to fulfil their bail conditions seven days after the Lagos court granted them bail.

In a ruling on Wednesday, April 24, Ambrose Allagoa, the presiding judge, said the charges against the duo were bailable.

They are to provide sureties with landed properties in Lagos but both of them have yet to perfect their bail condition one week after.

SaharaReporters had reported how Richards was arrested over a petition from Davidson Adejuwon.

The lawyer accused Richards of sundry acts of cyberbullying and libelling Olukoya.

Davidson filed the petition as counsel for one Mrs Sanni, an aide to Olukoya reportedly saddled with the cleric's social media concerns.

In the petition, the lawyer accused Ayotunde Richards of sundry acts of cyberbullying and making libellous claims against Olukoya.

Similarly, Ajimosogbe was also arrested by the police and charged with cyberbullying and libel against Olukoya.

It was learnt that Ajimosogbe - the Publisher of PostReporters - was arrested in the Okitipupa area of Ondo State.

SaharaReporters gathered that Ajimosogbe was arrested for re-publishing a SaharaReporters' story on Richard's N15.5-billion-naira fundamental human rights case against the MFM leader, Davidson Adejuwon and the Nigeria police.

It was alleged that the blogger added a rider of his own 'Olukoya is a criminal and the one behind all illegal acts in MFM.'

Richards had also filed a suit against Olukoya over an alleged breach of his fundamental human rights.

Other respondents in the case are Davidson Olaniran Adejuwon Esq; Superintendent of Police Tawose Ayoleyi Ajayi and the Nigeria Police Force.

Olukoya, Davidson, Ajayi and the Nigeria Police Force are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Respondents respectively.

Ayotunde Richards, who was once the leader of the cleric’s backup singers, alleged that Olukoya locked him up at the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Ikoyi for eight days.

This was confirmed by the family’s lawyer, Mr Adesina Ogunlana in a video he posted on Facebook on Wednesday titled, 'Latest On The Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministry (MFM) Vs The Ayotunde Richards Family.'

It's FUNNY that the clergy of a religion which central tenet is FORGIVENESS is so vindictive he'd go after a man's family.

I hope he gets justice but this should also serve as a lesson to all these "Yes Daddy" fools. It nauseates me to my innards seeing grown fathers and mothers calling their fellow men and women "Daddy and Mummy" under the guise of some vague spiritual shenanigans.

This is also to all those adults referring to Wizkid as Popsee. You all deserve the same space in Kirikiri or Ikoyi Prisons.

The day I hear my wife call any man Daddy asides her biological father or uncles is the day she will see the other side of me.

Bunch of self-serving religious entrepreneurs disguising as "god of men".

Trouble dey sleep, Iyanga go wake am.

While the young man thought that he could use social media to fight someone much more ahead of him in life, he never expected that others connected to the man would fight him, while the man moves on with his life peacefully and disturbed.

Now with the little change in his pocket, he runs heater skelter paying lawyers and other fees to free himself.

This life, know your rank or your mate.

The pastor will still go on the pulpit to preach forgiveness.
A G.O should not be seen to be vindictive but in Nigerian Christianity anything goes.
As for you, I can see you are one of the 'yes daddy' crew. Just know say na God you suppose worship and not a fellow man like yourself calling himself a pastor (one that is not even behaving christ like).

I guess you are very young and completely inexperienced. You also sound completely like a blind crowd follower. When you hear things on social media, do your research, ask questions and that way your opinion will make very good sense to everyone.

Do not jump to conclusions without hearing from all the parties concerned. And when you talk about Pastors, ensure that you do not generalize.

Forgiveness does not include exposing your life to danger or require one to be defenseless. Do you have the story in full? Did the young man say the complete truth as he went on social media? Being a Pastor is not a license for all to attack and defame one.

You may be a native doctor and so a “yes daddy” to native doctors, ir other forms of worship. However, it is very imperative to respect others and their feelings, irrespective of social standing.

If the young man did not feel that he could defame the man and get something or some sympathy out of it for himself, he never would have tried it. Besides most churches have mechanisms for dispute resolutions. If he exhausted them, he simply could have walked away. Now he started the war. He’s peace and finances are challenged.

Read the below:

When contacted, the spokesman for the MFM, Mr Collins Edomaruse insisted that the matter has nothing to do with the church or Dr Olukoya.

He said; “This matter has nothing to do with the church. We have answered you before. You sent a questionnaire and we returned it to you; nothing has changed. That answer we gave you before is the same answer we still have.

“The man can mention anybody he wants to mention. The church is not involved in the matter and the General Overseer is not involved in the matter.

“The person who arrested him has told you that she arrested him. So if that guy Richard is saying something else, well, he has the right. But the church didn’t take him to the police, the case has nothing to do with the church and has nothing to do with our General Overseer.”

All the shalaye you wrote up there is nothing but shalaye. 'If you are slapped, turn the other cheek' . 'You have to forgive 70 times 7 times'. All these are what your pastor preaches but he is not showing us good example.
If it were any other person or profession, the your argument may be valid but pastors are supposed to practice what they preach.

You are being gullible if you think the followers are not working under the direction of their pastor.
You are a prime example of a sheeple. Please continue worshipping your pastor as one who can do no wrong, eyes go soon clear you. I bet that guy being dealt with now was once like you, who could see no wrong with their pastor.
