almost all the foreign investors are leaving the country. The great Tinubulation is here.
No, they are not. ExxonMobil is selling off those assets because of security concerns. I hope Seplat is making the right call though. You want to operate an offshore rig that ExxonMobil is running away from. I don't know how they intend to pull the stunt.

Nigerians complaining about these IOCs leaving are really myopic. At least now indigenous companies are taking over, which means retained revenue. The most important question we should be asking is if these indigenous companies have the technical expertise and financial chest to take over these oil wells!
You have a point, but ExxonMobil is selling off those assets because of security concerns.
They are not leaving Nigeria.

However, a Nigerian company that can acquire oil and gas assets worth billions of dollars should be able to afford some of the best drilling engineers in America and Europe to man the upstream operations.

What Nigerian government hasn't been doing right is enforcing the local content laws to compel foreign oil workers to teach Nigerian petrolatum engineers what they do.

This will add close to 500,000 barrels per day if it works and start. Nigeria currently produces barely 1.5 million barrels per day.

The significance of this deal succeeding is quite underrated. Nigeria's economy will immediately feel the impact once 100% production resumes.

A lot of people just comment out of ignorance and based on ethnic, tribal and political bias. They look for the tribal or political points they can make as comments out of every post....

Mobil out, Seplat in means good for the country.
Most of the mobile staff will be absorbed by Seplat anyway. So it's still a continuity...
This means less foreign repatriation of funds away from Nigeria.... I know Seplat has the capacity to do and run the takeover

Long overdue! Congratulations to Seplat!
Nigerians should allow Nigerian companies to grow. We should be happy that SEPLAT, a Nigerian company is buying these assets. Look at what Air peace went through. If not for the mans doggedness, Nigerians will still be paying through their noses to travel to UK today.

Thank God SEPLAT is indigenous.
Trust me, stories will start once that indigenous company takes over.

It has been proven over the years that our black brothers are not good managers of such assets.

They will so much bastardize the management of human resources that you will pity the staff.

I am privy to one of such.
The company is French owned with different nationals holding different key positions, recently the MD gave a directive to all Executive Directors to cascade same to all General Managers to submit their budget for the next financial year starting April, he specifically told them to review workers remuneration by btw 60-100%. Would you believe that your black brothers sent in a review with salary increment of a paltry 20%, when the instruction was clear (60-100%).
Note, this actually affected the contract staff in the company.

Over the years, these our brothers have been sitting on benefits that ought to have been approved for the contract staff.

Abeg na black man be black man problem.

Imagine that it was after Buhari had already approved this acquisition that NNPC remembered that it has the right of first refusal.

In short, the biggest problem of this country is that those who benefit from the country not working are some of the most powerful people we know and have planted their foot soldiers all over the place.

Re: FG May Approve Exxonmobil’s $1.28 Billion Asset Sale To Seplat In Two Weeks by grandstar(m): 11:44pm On May 04, 2024
They are buying the business for a song. It should easily be worth 3 times as much if fully operational. A Nigerian company may fair better in dealing with the militants, oil thieves, communities and other stakeholders, whether they contribute to the lawlessness or not that bedevils the Niger Delta.

This is a money printing opportunity they've just gotten for peanuts.

If you disagree, let me have your informed opinions. One learns everyday

If IOCs leaving is the best policy, why is the government courting investment from Qatar, India, S Arabia and UAE? Nigeria needs both foreign investment and indigenous investment

Some of you are funny!

You really believe that IOCs are selling off assets to indigenous companies. They are restructuring. Hands of Essau, voice of Jacob. The profits flow upstream to the bosses whose names do not appear in any official documents. Your indigenous companies are just faces of the operation. It is a tax haven for the IOCs.
