I'm a Northerner, but from the very first time I tried Okpa years ago in Nigeria Law School, Agbani, Enugu State, I became addicted till date!!!

Must everything be a competition, why can’t people just be content with their homegrown taste buds?? I have enjoyed Okpa since I tasted it, first time in the S.East, but it still doesn’t mean that I’ll select it over Moi-Moi in an occasion. Okpa is the irresistible side-chick to my Moi-Moi, asking me to choose btw them is nothing short of wickedness. grin

Moimoi is more flavourful than okpa especially the ones made in leaves. The only thing okpa has over moimoi is that it holds the stomach for much longer

I enjoy both, i don't understand what the comparison is all about. They've even dubbed me okpa man at my place of work.
I'm yoruba and i love okpa very much, some of my ibo colleagues told me they've never tasted it.

You can eat it in the morning and not get hungry till late evening but for taste ,it's Zero and bland.

I'll only eat it to 'hold belle' ,I won't eat it when I have another option.

Use chilled coke or malt to eat good Enugu or Isuochi okpa first.

This is the kind of Nigeria I prayed for where we will interact and show our food and things publicly among other tribe and compare also interract with maturity without tribal sentiment...God bless all tribes in Nigeria.....I have been hearing okpa since when I dey young but never tasted it, maybe one day I will but moin-moin is bae, till I eat okpa no comment on that...I dey gbadun all comments on on first page of this thread, only one person that said something like tribal something that spoilt the fun so far. Thanks and lets keep this up.

WELL I SPENT FEW YEARS IN THE EAST BUT COMPARING MOI-MOI TO OKPA IS JUST OUTRAGEOUS. OKPA IS NOT FOR EVERYONE BUT MOI-MOI IS AND PLEASE LETS AGREE TO DISAGREE THAT MOI-MOI IS OKPA GREAT GRAN-PARENT.
ITS LIKE SAYING ABACHA IS BETTER OR TASTES BETTER THAN ALL KINDS OF SALAD.

TO SAY THE TRUTH ALL EASTERN MEALS, BE IT SOUPS AND CO HAVE A WEIRD TASTE AND ONLY PEOPLE FROM THAT REGION FIND IT DELICIOUS.

Oga calm down. I school in UNN and I've tasted okpa produced both in Nsukka and Enugu, but I still prefer moi moi over it.

No mind am.. unto say na okpa them use raise am,he life now depends on it.. I bet he hasn’t tasted nicely prepared moi moi .. The moi moi go rebrand his thinking..

It depends on what your tongue is accustomed to bro, both you and those individuals are right in their own regard. I ate okpa at Awgu NYSC camp few years back and I made the decision not to ever go near it again as it tasted bland in my mouth. Personally I prefer moin-moin. Even then, whether it tasted bland or nothing takes nothing away from the nutritional value.

I have eaten both of them. For me, Okpa holds the upper hand. Imagine tasting great without the garnishments that moi moi has. One thing I love about it is it's ability to sustain you. A woman hawks moi moi every morning past my house, I have never had the urge to buy. It's okpa I've not seen since my one year plus in Benin. I miss Delta sha.

There's a reason I don't use the word okpa,

I say enugu okpa, ikom okpa , if it's not done properly by an igbo woman I don't eat it,

Okpa is wonderful and yeah compared to moi moi I love it.

But nit everyone can prepare okpa or is qualified to.
Anyone who says it's bland has not had the opportunity to eat enugu okpa,

When I first ate okpa in CBQ it was the last time

I ate Okpa at NYSC orientation camp, Awgu, years back. I made the decision never taste it again till I left Enugu state. It's a matter of what each individual is accustomed to.
