Most ethnic bigots like Perra Obi only oppose the Coastal road because it doesn't directly link the SE. My question is why didn't these bigots oppose the 2nd Niger bridge and instead ask for a perpetual repair and refurbishment of the old bridge. They all supported the new bridge and are enjoying it. But have the guts to say the new Coastal road should be suspended because there's an old road that can be repaired.
Thats Hypocrisy at its highest point!

What are you yapping about? Person wey reach Rivers state or Bayelsa don reach East. The distance to connect a Trunk A road leading to the East is less than 30 minutes, so that has never been our concern when rejecting the monumental waste of scarce resources.

But it was ok to build 2nd Niger bridge when there was an existing road? Why were all existing roads not fixed before 2nd Niger bridge? Ibadan to ilorin, Lagos to Ibadan (amongst many) were both started before the bridge and are not yet completed to date. Where was this argument then?
I honestly don't understand the hullabaloo about the coastal way. I'm indifferent coz nobody is arguing with data,; just emotions.

The second Niger bridge, how does it relate to this topic?

Coastal road is good but not a priority for now

There was a first Niger Bridge, why was a 2nd built?
Because the first was causing serious congestion. And don't forget the first bridge was also in good shape. Why can't the president put the SS roads that are death traps in good shape before initiating another long trem project?

Anyway, while Nigerians (that always call Nigeria Shithole and ask why is Nigeria not like Dubai) quibble over small Costal road that is one small step towards making Nigeria like Dubai, here's the World's First Jet Suit Race in Dubai to entertain you.

And this is why it is surprising that some disgruntled people are opposing this project and I would suggest that such enemies of progress should not ply the road when it is completed and stick to the old, long and treacherous routes.

The minister of works already states that the lagos-calabar project will not stop the repair and rehabilitation of other existing federal roads.

You guys are bent on crying unnecessarily.

The project has started already. No amount of wailing and criticism can stop it.
If this project was sited in the north, none of you will criticize it for any reason because the north are your slave masters.

That the project has started is not my problem. My issue is, fix existing roads with the same speed like the coastal highway.

Since last year the FG has been struggling to fix Port Harcourt Aba express road with a very short distance. It's less than 40 mins drive from Port Harcourt to Aba.

Besides, the rain is coming and with the kinda people in Govt, a perfect excuse is underway to abandon that project untill maybe forever.

The common sense crooner is now senseless.

We are saying that the existing roads leading from Cross River State to Lagos State and the numerous bad roads across the country should be fixed.
The coastal highway shouldn't be a problem for now.

People are dying on these bad roads yet the govt priority is a coastal highway that we all know wouldn't be completed in 20yrs to come.

How is that a bad idea if I may ask Ben?

In a bid to support criminality they start sounding like uneducated people.

If this coastal highway is not all about criminality, they should equally award instant repairs for all the bad roads in the country and release a whooping 1 trillion naira to start up immediate work on them.

The congestion would have still been managed since the bridge itself was in a good shape.

I simply picked on the elements of your argument (as an emergency lover of Nigeria).
All existing projects must be finished before this starts?
Nigeria doesn't have money for this?
There's an existing road?
They all stand logic on its head.
If you couldn't complain when that was constructed, how did you find your voice now? Is there more to this coastal road project?

Patriotic Nigerian, the ethnic bigot Peter Obi clamor that the road should begin from Calabar if Tinibu ment well with this project. We all know that he will not finish this road reason he began with Lagos. Lagos has 13 federal projects ongoing while Calabar has non. Why can't the patriotic Tinibu begins from there. Hypocrisy is when you sample your stupidity in the name of intelligence.

Most of you are ignorant illiterates. Dave Umahi has stated many times that all federal govt roads are being repaired. The problem is we do t have the money to repair all the roads quickly so work is slow. He stated categorically there are just under 3000 awarded road contract and there is none where work is not on going.

Now a private company comes with a proposal to build a new transformational road with their own money. The road will cost $15b, the government will put down $1b, they will finance the rest and recoup their money from tolls. Mind you the entire budget for Nigeria is just under $30b. Should the govt say no?

Is the $15b for Lagos Calabar govt money? No!

Is they don’t build the Lagos Calabar road will the $15b go towards existing roads? No!

Are they repairing existing roads? Yes
But at a slow pace because we have no money!

If they don’t construct Lagos Calabar will it make repairs on existing roads faster? No!

Know the facts before you comment.
Existing roads are being repaired but govt has no money so it is slow.
The money for Lagos Calabar is not govt money and if you cancel the project the money will not go to existing g roads because it is not govt money.

No you are the ignorant illiterate here. You haven't fixed dilapidated roads yet you are constructing a new road that would take up to 8yrs to complete.

Why can't they channel the over one trillion naira for the coastal highway to fix the bad roads littered everywhere in the country since there is no money which had resulted in the slow pace of work on the other roads currently under maintenance?

Can you list the importance of the coastal highway let's see what is different from the existing East West road.

East-West Road was abandoned or maybe some parts of the roads.

If the government wants to investigate and prosecute the people involved, your kind will speak against it.

At least, I know about the Delta, Bayelsa axis that would have passed through Port Harcourt to Akwa Ibom.

The thing is, all the cries from blind oppositions won't make the FG to discontinue the project.

You opened your 2 eyes, like Torchlight
and saw Buhari a Northerner
Using resources from the South to heavily build up infrastructure in North to point of building Railway between Kano and Niger.
Tinubu a Southerner wants to now build Lagos Calabar Highway connecting 9 States of South,
it is now Peter Obi of SE fighting against it!
Shame!

Even Buhari's People are not fighting against the Building of the Highway

The wise men left in SE need to call Peter Obi to order

Uncle Bruce got it Right

What a myopic comment so Peter Obi is more expert than Ben Bruce in economy.

Are you comparing Bruce to Obi?

What is the name of his investment? Silver Bird Galleria and TV that is not amongst the top 15 TVs in Nigeria

Of all TV stations on DStv, how many times do you stop at Silver Bird?

You are comparing him to a man who financed air peace to what it is today ..are you well at all or need medication

Do you know PH and Obi investment yard there

Just what he owns in PH is all of the Silver Bird group folded together

I really don't get it... The second Niger bridge was built because the old one has outlived it's usefulness. Still people were managing it on the fact that there was no alternative. The horrible state of that bridge considering when it built was the reason why another bridge had to be built.

Remember it is a bridge built across a River. Not a surface road on the land that is easier to rebuild or patch up.

So are you comparing a less than one kilometre bridge with a 700 kilometre road or what exactly?
