I think there's a walk around to this. If you are transferring 1m, break it in two's as In make the transfer of 500k twice. That way you end up paying 500 naira for each transfer, which sums up to 1k as the charge for 1m rather than #5000 for 1m if you were to transfer once.

Oga 0.5% is different from 0.5.

0.5% is 0.005.

To get 0.5% of 1000, do the following... 1000 * .005 which is 5.

The levy is 0.5%, which is same as .005, which is same as 1/2%.

There's no work around here, this is arithmetic. If you like transfer it by 1k, at the end it'll still be the same. You'll even encounter more loss with bank and SMS charges.

0.5% * 1000

= 0.5/100 * 1000

Take the left side and multiply up (numerator) and down (denominator) by two.

= [0.5*2/100*2] * 1000

= 1/200 * 1000

= 1000/200

= 5.

0.5% = 0.005
So 0.5% of 1000= 0.005 × 1000 = 5.
0.5% of 100,000,000 = 0.005 x 100,000,000 = 500,000

So if you transfer

N1000, you pay —> N5
N10,000 —> N50
N100,000 —> N500
N1 million —> N5000
N10 million —> N50,000
N100 million —> N500,000
N1 billion —> N5 million

According to the NIBSS, Nigeria recorded 600 trillion etransfers in 2023
0.5% of 600 trillion = 3 trillion

Meanwhile this figure will go up in 2024 cos it jumped in 2023 compared to 2022.

Please I need a Tinubu or APC supporter to come and explain to me how you need 3 trillion naira annually to fight ONLY cyber crimes .
