Pep Guardiola Isn't The GOAT Of Coaches. He has achieved but there are many things to condider before he can assume the GoAT status. Manchester City just won their 6th EPL under Joseph Guardiola. But he's not the best of the best. He's no doubt an elite coach of this era and an envy to many. In fact, his records bettered sone of his close rivals and many in his era. In recent times, his team has always thrived with buying of talents. Football is about talents and talent discovery is one of the best joy giver of a manager. To train a kid from academy to superstar is a legendary feat. Lionel Messi is a great example, Raul Gonzalez, Paolo Maldini, Ryan Giggs are great players discovered by various gaffers and the joy they gave as a homeboy player were massive. Francesco Totti, Steven Gerrard, etc are also exceptional players that were home grown and repaid their clubs in full. People like Almiron, CheapHomes1, PapaBornboy, Anonymous1759, Numerouno94, Osazsky and other bots of Pessi Academy should take note that this season alone, Pep bought these players in this recently concluded 2023/2024 season: * Josko Gvardiol €90m * Matteo Kovacic €29m * Jeremy Doku €60m * Matheus Nunes €63m Total = €242m. For only one season o! Meaning he would v suffered more if he didn't buy them. https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/all-completed-manchester-city-transfers-2023-24-listed/blt00deac88bbbd7095 And to say that's he waste money a lot, he has spent over €2bn on players and most aren't top performers. An iberibe genius he is. More ll be revealed as you read along. Aside Messi & maybe Sergio Busquet and few Barca stars like Xavier or Iniesta, Pep hasn't groomed any home grown player to world class. His experiment with Bojan Krkic, Pedro and some unlucky Barca academy players under him failed and it almost cost those players their career. At a point when coaching Barca, he bought stars that flopped under him. A notable one is the legendary swedish fine leather striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. How Ibrahimovic didn't spend more than a year at Barca was a surprise to many. Probably cos of Pep's poor man management mentoring and over bearing attitude to players. No wonder Ibrahimovic called him a coward here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11833/8908314/zlatan-ibrahimovic-blasts-pep-guardiola-for-wrecking-his-time-at-barcelona What about his treatment to African legends like Samuel Eto'o and Yaya Toure? Eto'o like Ibrahimovic described Pep as a coward with no balls. https://www.eurosport.com/football/premier-league/2012-2013/etoo-unleashes-scathing-attack-on-guardiola_sto4187543/story.shtml Kukutente, DaddyYankee, come and see o! Toure left Barca cos of Pep's poor handling of player - gaffer ego. He ruined Yaya's later years at Manchester City too. A player who would v been an asset to his team to build around with youngsters. Rather, Pep felt he's not that good to be building teams and ended up splashing millions before he could turn City to a dominant team. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/yaya-toure-hits-out-at-pep-guardiola-following-manchester-city-departure-1.736945%3foutputType=ampq To be contd. https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.allfootballapp.com/amp/news/All/5-biggest-flops-under-Pep-Guardiola-at-Manchester-City/2797698 https://www.planetfootball.com/lists-and-rankings/pep-guardiola-worst-signings-man-city-barcelona-bayern-phillips-ibrahimovic Honeric01, Semid4lyfe, Mukina2

Let's talk about his worst signings. Pep got it so bad with 1. Dimitro Chyngrynskyi €25m 2. Alexander Hleb €17m 3. Ibrahimm Affelay €3m. He spoiled the career of one of the best youth player of his generation. 4. Kierrison (A Brazilian talent Gaurdiola wasted) to mention a few. These were part of things that dented his feat at Barcelona. 5. Martin Ceceres €16.5m. 6. Adriano €9.5m. In total, he spent over €342m on players for his four years stint at Barcelona btw 2008 - 2012. That's a big record at that time and comparing it to player inflation of this period in 2024, that's over €1.3bn. The appaling part of it is that he sometimes act wasteful like Mourinho to buy anyhow players that flop massively. And if the player is a budding talent, Pep ll use his bad character and snake naturr to ruin their careers. Remember Eto'o, Toure and how he killed career of Bojan Kirkic. A times, players ll confess they won't know if Guardiola is an angel or the devil. https://www.transfermarkt.com/pep-guardiola/spielertransfers/trainer/5672/plus/0/galerie/0?station_id=28649 Should we talk about how he failed to use an established Bayern Munich to lift the UEFA Champions league that Zizou & Don Carlo were winning with ease? Pep with all his managerial accolades during his 3 years stint and Bayern (2013-2016) wasted over €175m on players and he could win the UCL in 3 attempts. He hurriedly left Bayern Munich when he realized they weren't willing to break bank to satisfy his wasteful spending. Bayern board expected him to prove his class by winning without spending too much when they discovered most of his big fee signings like Mario Goetze, Juan Bernat & Mehdi Benatia flopped. Let's not forget he brought in some youngsters that he never gave the opportunity to shine. Players like Sinan Kurt, Jan Kircchoff, Svein Ulreich and established players like Pepe Reina of Liverpool were brought in to suffer on bench, loan and Team B without being given equal opportunities. In all, Baldie wasted over €175m on players when those that really shone for him were mostly bought for low fee or free transfer like Robert Lewandowski. So what's really great in a coach after winning trophies but leaves trails if his bad acts in minds of many great players. https://www.transfermarkt.com/pep-guardiola/spielertransfers/trainer/5672/plus/0/galerie/0?station_id=74142

We need not talk about his present stint at Manchester City that was aided by huge transfers. Remember he flopped in his first season of 2016/2017 winning a paltry student cup called League Cup (Carabao Cup) or the old name Carking Cup. You can see the way his Manchester City or should we say Manchester Shitty at that time were beaten balablue by many teams. He lost six games, finished 3rd and wasted money on buying players that season. Some of his expensive signings as at that time were 1. John Stones €55m 2. Leroy Sane €52m 3. Ilkay Gindogan €27m 4. Nolito €18m (this was an highly talented player Pep damaged his career and made Al-Mansoor group to just waste €18m). A confirmed Darocha! 5. Claudio Bravo €18m 6. Marlos Moreno €5.5m 7. Geronimo Rulli €4.7m 8. Oleksandr Zinchenko €2.5m and many others. In 2016/2017 season alone, Pep wasted over €183m to carry 3rd position and win a league Cup who's title bonus and amount no reach £10m. What a waste! No wonder he decided to break the bank every season to be able to compete with other managers. Had it been that City wasn't owned by money magnets, Pep would v ran away from EPL. 😂 Pep has spent over €1.4bn on transfers at City alone and over €2bn as a manager. That record is arguably unrivaled by that of another big spender like Jose Mourinho. No wonder but had similarity of not being able to win big without breaking the bank. It's a pity with all Guardiola's spending at City, he failed to utilize talents like Ferran Torres and Kalvin Phillips who were bought for huge fees but wasted by Pep Guardiola. In all, Pep may be a coach with lots of trophy but his out of field conduct and huge spending edge him to those gaffers who just excel due to huge transfer kits. Respect to coaches that are doing well without breaking the bank. Alonso a legend in making made us realize it's not all about the money. Don Carlo Ancelotti another legend has achieved many and his fears especially in UCL made us realize it's not all about transfer kitties. NOTE: This post isn't to berate Pep Guardiola but to inform Almiron that Pep's not the goat. He alongside some fellow uninformed Messi, Barcelona and Uefalona supporters are seeing football within the scope of their compounds and not worldwide. They are deluded by the euphoria of the cup wins but not trying to see beyond Man management of players & legacy. Least I forget, he's the first gaffer to chop yellocard at EPL. 😂 So someone like Almiron should to hyping. Hypeman no fit you. https://www.nairaland.com/5340624/pep-guardiola-becomes-first-manager https://www.transfermarkt.com/pep-guardiola/spielertransfers/trainer/5672/plus/0/galerie/0?station_id=128184 |

Padipadi:Is this a joke? No coach can achieve such a feat in this era,not even a coach with a technical and tactical nous of pep, Wenger and Ferguson combined. Pep is a coach and not a magician. He is already a GOAT, either you give him his flowers or not. |
