That is not true my friend, an average legit immigrant on minimum wage abroad is 1000% better than legit MD in Nigeria. Majority of our people are suffering because of illegal ways they took to get there.

here is a simple: Mc Donald's pays minimum wage and i have NEVER SEEN anyone working at Mc Ds having a great life... thus why nobody works at Mc Ds more than a few months/year, and then move on.

Ask someone who went their on legit visa, expecially a responsible single person and ask him how much he was able to save monthly. 90% of those building structures or buying properties in Nigeria this days are abroad base guys.

Don't know much about UK but you see US, Australia and Switzerland, I can authoritatively tell you that guys are saving double of your MD salary per month in Nigeria. Even the poor UK we are talking about, people are still making cool money better than when they were in Nigeria. The reality is that, Nigerians will never tell you how much they make or save, except you are so dear to them or very rich at home yourself.

I saw a family friends picture recently who Japanese to UK. They looked rough despite the UK weather that makes you look fresh. They used to look better back in Nigeria, maybe with time they'll adjust though.

I hold nothing against OP's thread or his relocation. His choice, which I respect. However, I refuse to hold the notion that a toilet cleaner in Australia lives a better life than a permanent staff banker in Nigeria. The other day, Nairalanders argued that being a skyscraper cleaner in the UK is better than a bank manager in Nigeria. That is totally nonsensical! I don't look at earnings conversion as they are pointless, but professions and standard of living.

Anyone can decide to move from being a doctor to cleaner in the abroad, no problem. But don't come online to state that someone flourishing in his/her career in Nigeria is worse than the cleaner in the abroad. It does not follow. As I argue, you compare oranges to oranges, not oranges to apples. Compare the cleaner in the abroad to a cleaner in Nigeria, NOT a cleaner in the abroad to a career professional in Nigeria. A truck pusher in Nigeria who moves to become a cleaner in the abroad has won the lottery and improved. However, a seasoned professional who does the same has not done well.

We have to be honest in what we say.

There is something peculiar to different tribe.
No igbo man will leave his home in search of green pasture and return back without any tangible thing to show.
But some others are comfortable returning to their father's house carrying Ghana must go and worn out slippers.
