Lol ...square roots of numbers that have no round figure answer is whats called surd.... There are separate rules separately for solving their questions
Lol.
You should have introduced the question and hint that surd.. can be applied to the solution.

U are a comedian...

U can always solve it the general maths way by just squaring both sides, open the bracket and still end up at the same 2 as answer....

That is why i prefer Mathematics to English. Unlike Maths where u declare it missing at the Police Station, especially wen u can't find it's whereabout, But in English anything u say or do will still be used against u in the Court of Law. Lolzzz Una happy Weekend! oo.

You should have asked what's the value of Naira in the equation?
Re: Mathematicians In The House come over Here by Tobex31(m): 12:57am On May 25, 2024
√8 is equal to 2√2. So the equation becomes:

2√2 + 2√2 = x

Combining like terms:

4√2 = x

So, x = 4√2.

Okay, you instructed the common Mathematics method of squaring both sides and open the bracket.
Squaring root X + root X gives you root X squared.
Root X squared gives you back X . Therefore root X squared is equal to root 8 squared equal to 8. Since X is equal to 4, how did 4 equal to 8?

Just scratching my head for you once again.
B

Bracket root X squared + root X squared. Bracket root 8 squared. Square both sides of the equation. You get root X squared times 2 + root X squared times 2. That gives you 4 root X squared. The other side of the equation gives you root 64 squared.
Cancel out the Square roots on both sides. You get 4X equal to 8. Therefore, X is equal to 2.

Uniquekriss:
Let's solve the equation \(\sqrt{x} + \sqrt{x} = \sqrt{8}\).

First, simplify the left-hand side:

\[
\sqrt{x} + \sqrt{x} = 2\sqrt{x}
\]

So, the equation becomes:

\[
2\sqrt{x} = \sqrt{8}
\]

To isolate \(\sqrt{x}\), divide both sides by 2:

\[
\sqrt{x} = \frac{\sqrt{8}}{2}
\]

Next, simplify \(\frac{\sqrt{8}}{2}\):

\[
\sqrt{8} = \sqrt{4 \cdot 2} = \sqrt{4} \cdot \sqrt{2} = 2\sqrt{2}
\]

Thus,

\[
\sqrt{x} = \frac{2\sqrt{2}}{2} = \sqrt{2}
\]

To find \(x\), square both sides:

\[
x = (\sqrt{2})^2 = 2
\]

So, the solution to the equation is:

\[
x = 2
\]

Square root is common to both sides of the equation, therefore, you can remove the square roots

The equation will now be:

x + x = 8

2x = 8

Divide both sides of the equation by 2

x = 4

Amah70:
Where did you derive square root of 2 and square root of 8 from?
Square root of 2 is number which multiplies itself to produce 2.
Square root of 8 is number which multiplies itself to produce 8.
None of the numbers exist.
In surd, root 8 is irrational so to simplify it you break it down into multiple factors that has a Square number so 8=4×2

Therefore Rt 8= Rt(4×2)
Rt8 now equals to Rt 4 times Rt 2
You can simplify Rt 4 because Square root of 4 is 2 but Rt2 is a radical number you can leave in its surd as Rt2 so Rt8 is same as 2Rt2.
You can pick up a further maths textbook to check out surd. It's interesting and fun to manipulate

Not a mathematics(pure or physical science) student but...

√X + √X = √8

X^½ + X^½= 8^½

(note "^" is symbol for "raised to the power of"...)

2(X^½) = 8^½

X^½= (8^½)/(2)

X= (8^½)²/(2)²

X=8/4

X=2

I feel a little bit embarrassed forgetting how to use Surds form. Assume this to be method 2 grin

At least, to God be the glory I arrived at an answer. cool
I like this exponent form that you switched it to. Powers can be tricky especially this fractional powers here. Nicely done. I enjoyed reading it

It is a Surd question.

Solution steps below
Rtx + Rtx=2Rtx (LHS)
Rt8 = Rt4 times Rt 2 (RHS)

Therefore 2Rtx=2Rt2 (because Rt4=2)
Divide both LHS and RHS by 2
Therefore Rtx= Rt2
Therefore x=2
Option a is the answer

U just confused me the more😂
N.B Rt= Square root
