Lol....Maths guru....u broke basic surd rule...

√8/2 is not equal to √4 ...this is a maths blunder ...u cannot direcrly divide a surd or any root by a whole number

Are u saying √64/2 = √32...instead of 8/2 =4
Or √100/2 = √50 instead 10/2 =5

To correct this, let's go back to the original equation:

√x + √x = √8

Combine like terms:

2√x = √8

Divide both sides by 2:

√x = √8/2

Simplify:

√x = √4

Take the square root of both sides:

x = 4

However, we must check if x = 4 is a valid solution by plugging it back into the original equation:

√4 + √4 = √8

2√4 = √8

4 = √8 (which is true)

So, x = 4 is indeed a valid solution.

I do not brake sure rules 👌 OK

Nowhere in Mathematics can 1.414 + 1.414 equate to square root of 8.
the answer is approximately 3...I was right from d begining..na eye I take run am..3 is ur answer..ague with urself

My God.what are u even writing....u are too ashamed to be wrong so u have to force the answer to be four..

U even said u wanted to check ...and u ddnt get it... yet claimed u did.....if x is 4 as u claim

√4 +√4 =4....but √8 is not equal to 4.......it's is 2.8...

U broke a basic surd rule...and that's what u did again....√8/2 is not equal to √4 because u can't divide a surd like √8 by a whole number...

√8 is not equal to 4. 8 is not a perfect square, hence √8 cannot give us an integer.
√8 = 2√2

Re: Mathematicians In The House come over Here by pswglobal(m): 12:10pm On May 25, 2024
The correct answer is simply 2.

Solution

√x + √x = √8
2√x = √4*2
2√x = 2√2 divide both sides by 2
√x = √2 square both sides
X = 2

√x + √x = √8

2√x = √8

2√x = √4 × √2

2√x = 2√2

√x = √2

x = 2.

√2 has coefficient of 1 sir.

Unless you skipped surds classes.

Therefore, you can add the coefficients.

What's the value of x?
The answer is a) 2.

√8 = √x + √x

√8 = 2√x

8 = 2²x

8 = 4x

2 = x

I must confess, I didn't do Add Maths in high school. I did Maths 101 at the uni and passed with: 'let my people go.'

But I was too good in ordinary Maths. All along, I have been struggling to solve this equation with my knowledge of ordinary Maths.
Cheers.

Not a mathematics(pure or physical science) student but...

√X + √X = √8

X^½ + X^½= 8^½

(note "^" is symbol for "raised to the power of"...)

2(X^½) = 8^½

X^½= (8^½)/(2)

X= (8^½)²/(2)²

X=8/4

X=2

I feel a little bit embarrassed forgetting how to use Surds form. Assume this to be method 2 grin

At least, to God be the glory I arrived at an answer. cool
Just assign the √x = a. Replace all √x with "a" and solve it.

Squaring both sides

(sqrtX +sqrtX) ^2 = 8
(2sqrtX)^2 = 8
Divide both sides by 4
4(Sqrt X)^2 = 4
(SqrtX)^2 = 2
X = 2

Okay, I think I still got this

2√x = √8

(2x)^½ = 8^½

Square both sides

2x = 8

X = 4
