The FG is building a Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration (CEER) in Khana LGA of Rivers State.

The Centre when completed will serve as a national and international hub for research in environmental remediation and data repositories of the Ogoni Clean-up Project.

Before leaving office, former President Buhari on April 28, 2023 virtually flagged off the construction of the centre in Rivers State.

The centre which is a component of the Ogoni cleanup exercise is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to turn around socioeconomic life of Ogoni people who have suffered years of environmental pollution.

Quite commendable if it finally comes to fruition. I t would be disappointing if recommendations from the center won't be implemented for the good of Ogoni land and other environmentally affected regions of the Niger Delta.

They can build anything but they don't have maintenance culture, that is how everything fashola and ambode built in Lagos state has gone rusty, all the main road and tarmacs in Lagos has turned to black and dirty, street lights has gone off and everything is smelling, miscreants everywhere.

Yes it is the center. Because every plan they are going to draw, research upon, strategize, implement, and general logistics will be from the site.
