Convicted means the end of the road to his ambition.
Whether he goes to jail or pays a fine, the word that stops him is “convicted”. This is a fraud case, so he will very likely serve jail term.

The republicans would have to get a replacement.

American judicial system does not run like Nigerian's where you run from one court to another evading justice. Once you are sentenced as a criminal in an American Court, the sentencing stands and must be obeyed, and appealing do not necessarily work to your favour.

America is a great country because of it's very strong incorruptible institutions something like this can never happen here in nigeria even in a million years. So does this conviction now means that the republican party won't no longer have a candidate in the coming presidential election in November?
